“I will Stay Here Again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2011

This was my second stay at the Wingate.. when i go to this place to stay I know that I will have a comfortable stay. They need to keep the prices reasonable. The only thing you need to watch out for is the road leading to the hotel has gigantic craters (near the McDonalds) lots of construction going on near there.

Thank you for your review. I appreciate your business as a repeat guest here at the hotel. We are fortunate to be located in an area that is rapidly growing because of our central location to attractions such as the RBC Center, North Carolina State Fair Grounds, Carter Finley Stadium, North Carolina State University and the Triangle Aquatics Center. Please know that there are frequent repairs to the roads near our location as a result of the development to ensure a positive experience for our guests. I look forward to your next stay at the Wingate by Wyndham State Arena Raleigh/Cary.

Best regards,
Nikki Boatwright

Nice hotel staff, nice amenenities, new rooms with comfy beds and decorative furnishings. Also swam in the pool and hot tub. Would go back! There was also a hot breakfast. Nothing to ride home about but can you beat free? McDonalds across the street if you dont like the bkfst :)

Thank you for taking the time to review the Wingate State Arena. We appreciate the positive feedback. There is a second dining option under development next to the McDonalds that will provide 24hr. food service in the future. We look forward to hosting you and your family on your next trip to Raleigh.

We went with another couple for a hockey game at the RBC center and found our room to be very clean and new. The front desk was extremely helpful. We were able to ride their free shuttle to the RBC center and since we missed the last one back (since we went over to the Back Yard Bistro for cocktails for several hours after the game), the front desk called a cab for us and called us back to advise on when the cab would be picking us up. Another perk is that there is a McDonald's within walking distance from the hotel. Rooms have refridgerators and microwaves. Continental breakfast was free and was adequate for what is expected for a free breakfast. The only negative is we could here hallway noise but this was not a big deal and did not impact our sleep at all. :) Again we will definitely be back to this hotel for the next Hurricaines game!

I stayed here for 2 nights while taking the NC bar exam -- definitely not a fun reason to be in a hotel! But this was great. The room was comfy and had plenty of space to work, the hot tub was essential when I needed to relax, and the proximity to the fairgrounds was excellent. The only downside was that there was a rock concert at RBC Center while I was there, so the guests at the hotel were about half bar exam/half rock fans, which made for an interesting mix. But the hotel did a good job putting me in a room that would be relatively quiet, and everything was fine. It's in an odd place, but is convenient to RBC and the fairgrounds, and to the interstate, which makes it a good choice when attending events at those venues.

My husband and I stayed for a one night stay to go to a concert at the RBC Center. We booked a King Suite Room. The room was spaceous and had all the amenties we looked for.

The Good:
Clean Hotel - This hotel is new and sparkly clean. The rooms are nicely put together and very comfortable.
Nice Beds - The bed was extremely comfortable.
Great Shuttle Service to RBC Center - The shuttle service was great to and from the RBC Center

The Bad:
Train track in back of hotel of room - Upon arrival we noticed a train track right out side of our room. We hoped that maybe there would only be one train running and that the train would not sound the horn. Unfortunately that was not the case on either front. There were not one, two but three train passing during the night with the horn sounding and everything.

Shower in Room above - In the room above ours, you could hear when the person turned on the shower a loud sound of the pipes blowing could be heard once the shower started...after it was running for a while it would stop...then turn on again once the shower was turned off. Noticed this same sound on our own shower.

Power for lights in bathroom - The bathroom lights worked the night we arrived. The next day the power for the lights did not work and had to take shower in the dark. We were in a hurry and could not wait for maintenance to be called.

Hotel wall too thin - You can hear the people in the next room coughing at night.

Breakfast - The breakfast was horrible.

Overall: What started out has a very good trip ended up badly because we had a terrible night sleep which is what you need a Hotel for. I notified the front desk of all these issues and advised that they get a manager to spend the night in that room when the Hotel is full and trains are running. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the Hotel for you. Maybe if we stayed on the other side of the Hotel it would be better but we paid $129.00 for night and expected more.

It was amazing. Clean-Professional-Outstanding-Go out of their way people. I would 100% recommend this hotel. What was really nice is for us having to leave early in the morning to go to our games, there was a McDonald's right there and they were open early and they were awesome to. GREAT GREAT places. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
