The new home of North Carolina's art collection owes much to the land around it. With 168 acres or so of outdoor space to work with, it must be the envy of the U.S. art scene. The best thing about the museum is the landscaping around it. It is gorgeous and a must-see. Plus it has a large outdoor museum with lots of large, contemporary pieces.
I'm not big on how the artwork is displayed inside the museum, but the walk around the outside of it at, say, sunset is worth the trip to it. And the older museum next to it now has ample and excellent exhibition space for the many temporary exhibits that pass through.
