“Very relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

The trip was a Mother's Day gift, and a great one at that!! Very relaxing two night stay. All of the staff is friendly & helpful. Breakfast was really good, the breads were "Deliciosos". The wine was also very good.
The colors in the high country are beautiful this time of year. The other couples staying at the lodge were very nice and also friendly. It is a bit remote, but a great place to decompress. Our thanks to all the staff involved and to our kids Marylin & Jonathan for the gift!!!!

“Excellent Fall Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Just a short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, and scenic trails for hiking, Toe River Lodge is a friendly, clean place to rest and relax after a day of sightseeing. We were greeted by the friendly staff and and taken a short drive to our room in the lodge. The room was small, but we could go upstairs to a communal room where we could make a cup of coffee, play pool, or watch TV. We chose to eat both nights at the lodge cafe and were not disappointed. Everything was fresh, including homemade bread, desserts, and local fish. Breakfast was also delicious. We had to leave before the Sunday brunch, and it was our loss as we saw the offerings being prepared. The friendliness of the staff, the excellent food, and the amazing scenery made this a weekend we would love to repeat.

“Awesome Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We purchased this trip through Living Social which provided 2 nights stay, breakfast, wine tasting and a bottle of wine. This was an awesome trip for us - we were in much need of a relaxing, downtime weekend and that is exactly what we got. We arrived Friday afternoon and was greeted by a friendly member of the staff. We were indecisive about dinner reservations but we decided to make reservations for that night - let me tell you, I am so glad that we did - the food was AMAZING! We stayed at the campground in the lodge. The long porch proved to be a quaint place which overlooked the campground and mountains. The rooms were small, with no heat or air but there was a ceiling fan and a small heater. There was a common area with a kitchen area that provided coffee and hot chocolate. Also, there were two fireplaces with wood provided. A satalite tv, wireless internet, pool table and foose ball table. The breakfast on Saturday was delicious. We decided to take a trip to Sugar Mountain which was about an hour away. They did have ziplining but we chose to do that on our next trip. We had a wine tasting with our package and we loved Nate. He was knowledgable and provided pleasant conversation. After the wine tasting, we had dinner reservations. Again, the food was amazing. We enjoyed a relaxing evening in our room. Sunday morning we opted for the brunch and when we thought they could not "WOW" us anymore, they DID! The brunch was amazing - food was prepared perfectly. Will is AMAZING. The entire staff (which are all family) treated everyone like family. We have planned our next trip and are bringing four other couples with us. The Toe River Lodge is a wonderfult getaway that I would highly recommend to anyone.

“Friendly Folks!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

A group of six of us stayed in the Creekside Cabin at Vance Toe in October 2012. While the cabin is pretty basic (nothing special to rave about...no views...) the grounds are nice and well kept, although the campground is a drive from the lodge lobby where you check in and it's easy to get lost even though Lindsay provided us with a map. Speaking of Lindsay, she and Nate, the wine tasting leader, were so nice as were the other lodge folks we encountered. After a pretty unfortunate mix-up with my reservation, Lindsay did what she could to correct the situation and everything worked out well. Linville Falls was totally worth the 20 minute drive from the campground and although I didn't eat any of the food from the lodge kitchen, my group mates ordered some burgers are are still raving about them to this day. Even though there are a lot of mountain cabin options, I would stay here again for sure just knowing that the people running the place are so kind.

“One of our best fall trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Our stay at the Toe River Lodge was wonderful. Everyone was super friendly and made you feel like your were old friends. One thing I noticed was that everyone on staff seemed to really enjoy what they were doing and were very happy to serve you. It was a wonderful start to yur day with breakfast,(which was always delicious or the end of the day with a gourmet dinner. We stayed in the lodge on the bottom floor and the only thing I would have likek different was the bathroom, it was really small. Next time we plan to stay upstairs in the lodge the rooms were realy nice and spacious bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay and will definately stay there again.
