The lovely Anne and I were recently given the opportunity to dine at the Village restaurant. I had previously eaten there at a corporate event and at The Barn for a wedding. Both were great meals but could not compare to an actual dinner at the Inn.
We chose the tasting menu we offered a bit of everything on the menu. We also chose to have the wine pairings to complement each offering.
I wish I could remember each course, but the one that stuck with me was the wild boar. The experience was like a symphony where each course flowed to the next, the wine pairings were perfect. As the first dishes came out we were concerned that some of the portions were smallish, thankfully the people in the kitchen knew what was ahead as it turned out the portions were perfect to leave room for the two deserts. Trust me, we were stuffed at the end of the night.
The wait staff was excellent, though we kept them busy with all the plates and wine servings, they were quick, efficient and never intrusive.
Chef Bedford was off in London for a Iron Chef type competition they have over there called Grand Chefs. His kitchen staff must be superbly trained, because they did not miss a beat in his absence.
