“I'm hoping this place will attract diners from the Triangle.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

This place can hold its own with most of the fine dining establishments in the area - good food, service and wine. It's a bit out of the way, but worth the drive. We went for a friend's birthday, and every dish we ordered, from aps to dessert, was outstanding. Highly recommended. Easy parking, casual atmosphere.

“Excellent dinner - well worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We enjoyed dinner here for my husband's birthday. The setting is well designed, the staff was attentive but not overbearing, good wine list that should be extensive enough for everyone to find something they like, and the food was excellent. We look forward to getting back soon!

“A real treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

I really didn't expect much. After all, the restaurant was on the outskirts of a small town, across the highway from a used car lot, in a converted warehouse or something, sharing space in the building with a funky food store. What a surprise! We walked into the restaurant, were immediately struck by the ambience of the place and the professionalism of the staff. The menu was eclectic and we had a hard time choosing. Our excellent waiter made some recommendations that were spot-on. I opted for a sea bass dish that was utterly delectable and the creme brulee was as good as any I've eaten in France. My companions were equally pleased with their choices (other seafoods). The wine list was surprisingly extensive. We were impressed with the varied selections of both American and foreign wines, once we stopped laughing at the way they were listed: "Chardonnay" and "Not Chardonnay." We went on a Thursday evening to find the place quite full (I'd recommend making reservations even on a week-night). The prices were moderate, given the quality of food, the quality of service, and the atmosphere of the place. I'm looking forward to returning--often.

“Excellent”

We had a very good meal here and look forward to returning. Attractive setting with high ceilings and exposed brick but not a super cozy feeling.

“Excellent!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

We had a wonderful experience at Oak Leaf recently. Every aspect of our meal was superb.
Food: The food was excellent. We had the Roasted Porcini and Cremini Mushroom Soup, Rosemary-Mushroom Ragout (Excellent), Sheep's Milk Ricotta Gnocchi, Roasted Mushrooms, Sage, Fonduta, Parmesan (great flavor but too fatty), the terrine of foie gras between a soft buttermilk biscuit with a winter fruit compote and a black pepper drizzle (excellent). Our daughter had the kids grilled fish , salmon with pan sauteed brussels sprouts (excellent). We were extremely happy that the kids meal was excellent, not the usual plain pasta with sauce. For dessert we had the Caramel Banana and Coffee Cake Bread Pudding, Chocolate Gelato, Toasted Hazelnuts (great combination of flavors but the cake was dry!).
They have a small but very good wine list. We generally liked the food very much.
Ambiance: Very nice. Modern, large open room. Nice fixtures. The bar is small and cozy.
Service: This is where the restaurant shines. Every aspect from the reception to the end was superb. The wine we requested was out so they upgraded us to a more expensive bottle from the same producer for the same price. Our waitress was attentive, polite and made sure we got everything we asked for.
Overall, this will be a restaurant we go back to often.
