We Stay at a relations house every year in Waynesville ,Nc. and decided to take a road trip. I was leafing through a book describing waterfalls in the area and thought Looking Glass Falls was a nice road trip. It is the most photographed falls in North Carolina. Located in Pisgah National forest, accessed from main road.(Rte 276). There are switchback roads -be forewarned. Stay near right side of road while making blind turns. The falls are not large (60 ft). but very pretty. There are some staircases down to them. (no handicapped) and a nice mist is always hanging around them. We were there 8/26/13. It was a rather cool morning, but felt good anyway cuz we are from Florida. Watch for the signs. Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby. If you continue on toward Brevard there is a visitor center with restrooms and picnic tables. All in all it was about a 50 mile trek from Waynesville. Took us the morning. There are other attractions on the way (Sliding Rock ). Kinda buggy . I wear a hat and Sunglasses. I got some nice pics.
