“you'll get a bit wet! alot of fun.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

for the most photographed falls in NC. Make sure you go see this on a sunny day. Even in August it was chilly. its in the forest, and its alongside a paved highway and easy to view. I say "on a sunny day" because its heavily forested and its cool. You will get sprayed if you go during rainy season, which is now in NC! these are the first falls I saw on my trip to NC so i had nothing to compare it to. it's a fun spot to visit. trails and rocks lead down to the bottom of the falls. it was CROWDED. you can wade in the water at the bottom. Lots of brave young people were playing in the falls. it would be awesome to see in the fall foilage season!

“Beautiful roadside falls.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Stumbled upon this while making the trek to Sliding Rock and it was definitely one of the prettier falls we've seen. You can see it from the pullover area or take the steps down (not a bad climb) for a closer view. Great places for photographing, too.

“Beautiful and quick”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

These falls are visible from the road and are worth the time to stop. The short staircase to the bottom is quick and leads you to a great few of the falls. Definitely worth pulling in and grabbing the camera.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

The falls were gorgeous, and for those who are a little adventurous, and willing to wade in cold water (55 degrees), you can get right under the falls. Absolutely beautiful. I would have stayed longer, but cold feet made me get out.

“In a word, beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Sits right off the road and parking can be a headache in the summer. The falls are named after Looking Glass Rock, which rises better than 3000 ft from the valley floor. You can climb the face of the rock (with experience and proper equipment) or you can go to the south side and hike a sometimes strenuous 3+ mile trail. Beware that the trail reaches it's terminus at the top of the rock and several careless hikers have taken the short, fast way down. It didn't end well for them... .but the view from the top is incomparable. BTW, you can see this rock from the Blue Ridge Parkway which you will reach if you continue past the falls, north on US276
