The service at the front desk here has always been excellent. (I've stayed at this hotel once a year for several years now to attend an event at nearby Brevard Music Center.) Each year I'm greeted by fantastic employees who always warmly welcome me.
But the facilities themselves need a lot of attention. While the rooms are fairly clean, the decor in them looks more dated and dim each year (sofas, chairs, art, lighting, etc.). I had an upgrade from the usual king, and the couch and chair in my room looked pretty worn out, inexpensive, and dated -- so much so that they didn't really seem clean, comfortable, or inviting. The air systems have fans that run continuously, which I like a lot, but then the AC kicks on and off rather loudly, which is really disruptive for sleeping. (After being woken up twice by the AC turning on, I successfully used a "white noise" application on my mobile phone to drown it out.) The wall with cabinets in my room looked very dated. There was an armoire that looked more like a college dorm piece of furniture than something I would expect in a hotel that costs more than $100 a night. (Now that I think about it, the couch and sofa also looked similar to those in an older dorm room, too, as did the wall of cabinets.) The lack of a gym is also disappointing. This is definitely nearly not as nice as other Hampton Inns I've visited recently.
On the plus side, the location is good for going to Brevard Music Center, and I really do appreciate the great front desk employees. But unless the Hampton Inn gets some upgrades/freshening up, I will probably look into staying in another nearby area with more hotel options the next time I go to BMC.
