“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Pleasant 3 night stay at this location. Comfort Suites are known for their value and this hotel was a cut above other Comfort Inns I've experienced. The room was very clean and had a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, coffeemaker and sink. I was surprised with all the outlets and usb ports for my electronics. They were in the lamps, on the desk and by the nightstand, too. There were additional flexible reading lights by the beds. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows. The only disappoinment was breakfast, which was meager and not well stocked. If you don't arrive early you miss out on the little extras like sausages, choices of muffins, jellies, etc.. Overall, this was a great value for the price.

What a gerat surprise to find this newly renovated hotel. The room was clean and very spacious. The newly decorated room was very stylish as well! The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The sitting area was great with a desk, chair, end table and pull out sofa bed kind of in its own little nook. The location is awesome, right off the interstate, near tons of shopping, and restaurants and only about 15 minutes from downtown Charlotte. The rates are also very reasonable! Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Only negative and is very typical of all small hotels is the air conditioning unit that just blows on the closest bed which in our case was the pull-out sofa so the air flow in the rest of the room was non-existent. Overall a FANTASTIC Hotel!

This hotel is in a super location, next to shopping area's even has a TJ Maxx, K-Mart, Home Depot and other stores right across the parking lot. Just off the 485, extremely easy to get to and in a VERY safe location. Rooms are incredible, newly remodeled, extremely clean, bathrooms are very nicely sized, small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink, counter space, coffee maker, etc. The beds are amazingly comfortable, as are the pillows. The room is extremely large and includes a separate sitting area with sofa sleeper and chair, plus a desk and chair. Room can easily and comfortably sleep 6 if needed. Did not go in pool, but it looked very nice and clean. The remodeling seems to be done, and WOW, what a great job! The breakfast was also wonderful! Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, bisuits & gravy, strawberry or regular belgium waffles, plus breads, bagels, pastries, juices, fresh fruit & yogurt - worth every penny!!! The staff is also extremely friendly, well, you are in the south, and they seem to go out of their way to say 'hey'! We were on 2nd floor and could overlook check in area and breakfast area. Workout room was right near elevators, and had 4 pieces of exercise equipment, I used the treadmill and was the only one in the room at 630 am! It was like having your own private gym! This place is so clean and fresh, I will always stay here when visiting my daughter in Charlotte! It was a very quite room, and conveniently located right off the 485.

Recently stayed 2 nights for a father's day family getaway to visit nearby Carowinds. Our room was newly remodeled and very clean and comfy. We even removed the mattress in the sofa bed from it's plastic wrap!

Breakfast was fresh, hot and plentiful. They had the waffle iron, pastries and cereals nearly every hotel in this price range has now but also added scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy. That selection changed slightly each morning which was nice.

Staff was very friendly and paused to wish every gentlemen they passed with a child in tow a happy fathers day.

Room Tip: There are a number of very good local restaurants in the shopping centers around the hotel. Skip th...

Yes, the hotel is currently completing a remodel so there is a bit of construction debris and supplies around, but even with that going on what a beautiful hotel!

The exterior of the hotel is manicured and well maintained. Parking lot has excellent lighting and plenty of room. Nice covered pull through right outside lobby. Pool area has extra deck and pool was beautifully clean. Hotel is conveniently located next to a strip mall, just off the interstate and within about a 5-10 min drive from popular Carowinds theme park.

Inside, everything has been given a clean and cool modern update. The large lobby is absolutely gorgeous with ultra modern seating area and an XL breakfast buffet and seating area (one of the nicest I have seen for this chain). The business center is right next to the lobby, and while small it is efficient. After all most people bring their own devices now. Check in was a breeze and we even checked in early without giving the hotel notice. Hotel has two elevators, one at either end of the hall/building.
When we walked into our room we were very impressed. Not only does it have beautiful new furnishings and beautiful decor with just the right amount of space for a room, it also has small conveniences that make everything even better. The small kitchenette in suite is great for a short trip with cabinets for storage, fridge, microwave and sink. Outlets are everywhere and they even have several by the bed (often neglected by hotels) for charging phones and other devices conveniently! Closet isn't huge, but has a nice solid door instead of the typical flimsy ones. Extra linens (also brand new) were conveniently located in the top of the closet in a sealed bag for the pull out couch. Our bed was very comfortable with plenty of full size pillows (another neglected area form most equivalent hotels). The bathroom was spotless and was stocked with more than enough towels. There are several places to put luggage with a luggage rack and long bench in room, nice with multiple travelers. Our king suite also had a pull out sofa, chair and desk in the partially separated seating area. New digital tv with premium channels completes out this lush room.

All the staff we have dealt with thus far have been extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. The housekeeping staff certainly has their hands full with the remodel going on, but are doing a superb job as our room was immaculate.

If you will be staying here while visiting Carowinds I highly recommend either booking a Carowinds package for your stay or at least purchasing your tickets through the hotel. This program is handled very well here making getting tickets less expensive, ultra convenient and allowing you to breeze past lines at the park.

The only reason I marked down on kids activities is that the only extra entertainment here for them is the pool. Hotel is kid friendly, just not packed with activities for them and it shouldn't be. As for the restaurant mark down, well it's not actually a restaurant. There is an extra large continental breakfast area with both hot and cold offerings. There are plenty of restaurants nearby though.

All in all this is definitely one of the nicer Comfort Suites. Those travelers giving recent negative reviews were in our opinion an exception and either very hard to please and very critical, or just had some odd experience. Everyone at the hotel during our stay has been very pleased with the staff and facilities.

Room Tip: Rooms 529, 429, 329 and 229 are the last rooms in the hall right next to the lesser used elevator an...

First and last time at this hotel hopefully. Absolutely beyond belief:
1) Arrived checkin counter 9:45 pm. No one on duty. Waited 10 minutes and elevator opened and young lady came to desk to check me in. Never even asked if I'd been waiting.
2) Room looked brand new (had heard the place was remodeled). Encouraging! But in the sitting room none of the three lamps were plugged in. Got on my hands and knees and plugged them all in.
3) Tried to use the free wireless for my pc and couldn't get on even though was able to in airport, and restaurant earlier in the day.
4) So, thought I'd watch a little TV. Unfortunately there was NO REMOTE anywhere in the room. Called the front desk. Girl told me to look in all the drawers. Told her I'd already done that. She said to look again!!!! I did. No remote. She said she'd bring one up to my room. Sat and waited while reading a book. 45 minutes later decided maybe bed was the best alternative.
5) Went into the bathroom. Wow, upon opening the door to get to the toilet you have to step around the door between the toilet and the sink area to close the door. And if you have to sit on the toilet you have to close the door to do so. Better yet to use the sink you have to squeeze your legs between the toilet and the sink! AND THIS WAS A REMODEL!
6) Finally the bed .... VERY GOOD!
7) Breakfast area next morning a complete mess with no attendant anywhere in sight during the 20 minutes I was there. Crappy assortment of tow muffins, bisquits and gravy, make your own waffle and juices. Pool copy of the Hampton Inn original.

At check out I suggested they really shouldn't charge the company that was paying for my room given all the above. The guy at the desks only comment was "I wondered why there was a TV remote sitting here (which he showed me) and when I asked they told me some guy was supposed to come down last night a get it."

I've traveled the world far and wide. I did once stay in a hotel in Chittigong, Bangladesh that was worse than this.

rooms were not clean. front desk staff busy watching tv. we needed towels and called down. no answer 3 x. i went down to the desk to find the receptionist on couch watching tv. she said she'd call someone a woman to get towels for us . i went back to room. 20 minutes same receptionist calls me to Come down for the towels. when i get down to thefront desk she points "they are over there".. on the counter, and she is back watching tv. not the best in customer service. overall look of room not good. i was using my laptop and watching a rather large bug climb up the wall next to me. yup. that was it for me! also had alot of people yelling in the hall. and although it was a non smoking floor and rooms. the entire floor smelled like cigarette smoke. some of the other staff was pleasant and helpful. but i would not look to stay here so fast next time we are down. sorry.
