“One of those courses you can not miss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

This one of those courses if you have the opportunity to play you can not miss, It has so much history to it and yes the course layout makes you work most of your shots and you have to read the greens. Get a caddy and get some stories about the place from him and not just to carry your bag and read the greens, they all have a lot more to offer. There is not a bad hole on the course and there is plenty of GOOD ones.

“Memorable Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This is the 2014 US Open course for both the men and women - a first. It is rather pricey but definitely something an experienced golfer needs to experience at least once. One of the finest of over 400 Donald Ross courses, redesigned in 2011-12 by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, #2 is now very cloe to Ross's original design with fairways lined with sand "waste areas" and plenty of wire grass. I believe the greens are recently redone with Bermuda Mini-verde, but I am not sure.

“The U. S. Open next year - but it was ready for us!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Pinehurst #2 is classic golf, updated for today's equipment. Select the proper tees in which to play, for maximum enjoyment. But distance isn't the thing - beware of the Crenshaw/Coore update from last year, and keep it in the short grass - as there's no rough, but only sand and wiregrass to enhance your mistakes. Greens complexes are devious yet fair, and the caddies help out all they can. But it's up to you to get out of your troubles. But what the heck, you're still on one of the great courses in the U.S.

“Classic Donald Ross”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

There are numerous Donal Ross designs in the Sandhills but this was his baby. The redesign by Coore & Crenshaw have returned it to much of its original appearance. At number 2, it's all about the greens and achieving the correct angles into them. Take a caddy to assist in your course management and you will get to experience one of the most historic golf layouts in the world.
