“Super clean, friendly staff, and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Perfect for our last minute family vacation. The fridge was a decent size, the price was unbeatable and the returaunts was pretty good too. The only negative was Saturday night it sounded like a frat party was happening on the porch from midnight to 4am! Which didn't jive with our 4 year old. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Very clean motel. Stayed on the 2nd floor of the newer building. A/C worked well. Pool was nice and clean. This was one of the cleanest motels I have been to in a while. The bed felt good at first but it was a little too soft because both my wife and my back hurt in the mornings.

Our first visit to Orcacoke Island and a great choice in a motel. We stayed in an efficiency and found that we had plenty of room to eat, sleep and relax. Our room had full size refrigerator, stove top, microwave and came complete with all the kitchen items needed. I was able to prepare full sized meals and snacks with no difficulty. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom big enough for what you need. Air conditioning a must due to the weather and was running properly as well as the ceiling fan for those times I wanted to leave the windows open for a breeze. Although the motel is along a main highway it is set back enough to make sitting out on the porch enjoyable and quiet. The pool was a wonderful addition for the afternoons when the kids got tired of playing at the ocean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and made our stay most pleasant. Will definitely stay here on our next visit.

We got to Pony Island Motel on a Friday afternoon, we got a cute and clean room. Everything was nice and quiet at that point. I was disappointed about the swimming being right on the edge of the road where all the traffic was. The motel is located on the main road and there was a lot of traffic that day. The problem started in the evening when the motel started to fill up with bikers and pick up truck type crowd. The bikers would keep their engines on outside even though it was well after 10 pm. The motel walls are paper thin so expect to hear TVs and every conversation taking place next to yours. A couple in the room next to us woke us up around 1:00 am, they were obviously coming back for the bars--drunk, she was laughing uncontrollably and they horse played for about an hour. Then at 5:30 am the bikers were outside, about 6 Harley Davidson with their engines roaring a few feet from our beds. At this point we decided to pack up and leave, there was no way we could stay there another night. We left bikers's heaven on the first ferry and will probably never return. We should have tried the Edwards, probably more peaceful.

My husband and I and our 2 children stayed this past Memorial Day Weekend and I cannot say enough about this motel. Rooms were clean and bright and recently refurbished. We loved sitting out on our deck in the adirondack chairs. It was downtown and close to everything but so peaceful and quiet at night. Perfect for families and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! We cannot wait to book our next stay at the Pony motel.

We stayed one night in April 2013. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and very affordable. Will definitely stay here again. The front desk staff were very pleasant and offered dining suggestions. Close to Howard's Pub.

We stayed there in April, 2013. This place is a gem. Clean rooms, nice beds and easily accessible to Howard's Pub, Jason's restaurant and Downtown. We rented Bicycles w/locks at the hotel and rode them for 24 hours for $10 each. The front desk doesn't have any of the modern conveniences, but our check-in was not hindered and the staff actually wrote information on paper. We were on the third floor and there was no elevators, so we got plenty of exercise. Great value, and friendly people.
