“We will be Back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2009

My fiancee went down to the NC coast to get married. We were married on Sunset Beach but stayed here in Ocean Isle. We were both very pleased with the room and the beach. We will definately come back and stay here again.

This was the first year we have stayed at Ocean Isle, and the first year we have stayed at the Islander Inn. The staff was very helpful, answered all our questions, and seem concerned with our comfort. Plus, I must say that the carpet in the room was the first I could walk on barefoot without my feet getting nasty. And the Beds were the most comfortable I have slept on in any hotel! The complimentary breakfast was a real plus, also! This is now our place at the beach!
I would not hesitate to recommend The Islander Inn to any one! We saw dolphins (or porpoises) at least once, usually twice a day, which was a real treat. A real family friendly place to stay. Y''all come !

We had a blast here when my husband and I went in September of 2009. The rates were awesome (i got around $105 a night for ocean front w/ balcony!) and the room was clean and neat. The indoor pool was kind of cold, but i think summer was just winding down so they probably hadn't turned on the heater yet, and the jacuzzi was relaxing on the first night, but the last night we tried to get in it and it was luke warm. So i tried to ask the front desk to turn it up, but they told me that they don't control the temp and she would have to call the pool guy to fix it. I didnt readily believe this because i dont understand how you can have a hot tub, but not be able to control the temp. Also our door to our room stuck quite a bit and we had a time getting it to lock/unlock. online it states that they offer a boxed lunch for you to take on the beach, but when i asked about it, the girl up front told me she wasnt normally there during the day and to ask again at noon. Our ferry was leaving at 11 so i didnt bother to ask again. Those problems were miniscule considering the deal i got and how close we were to EVERYTHING, so overall we had an awesome time and i would definately recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have a great vacation on a budget!! :)

Thanks you very much for taking the time to share you experience with other travelers, and we are very glad you enjoyed yourselves!

You seemed to have an issue with our hot tub on your second night with us, and unfortunately we do not have controls to alter the temperature. The pool company that services our three pools controls the temperatures, however, in this case we had a heating element go bad, and it has already been replaced. Thanks for letting us know about it while you were here.

I am a bit confused where you read online that we provide boxed lunches for the beach. It does not state that on our website, so if you read that on a 3rd party site, if you could please contact the hotel so we can have that site remove the false information I would appreciate it. That also probably explains why the front desk clerk was confused also by your inquiry. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Thanks again for your visit, and we hope to see you again very soon!

A great value. Simple. Right on the beach.

We had an Oceanside room on the first floor. All the rooms on the ocean side directly face the beach, with great views from the balcony. Even the first floor rooms are elevated to allow a view over the dunes. The balcony is wide enough for a two adults to sit comfortably (you may want to do what we did which was to bring your own folding chairs which will be more comfortable than the plastic chairs provided by the hotel).

The rooms are clean, and roomy enough. The beds are comfortable (though the pillows could be better). Internet access is very fast. The TV is great - a state of the art plasma, with a good choice of channels. The hotel was smart to make it easy to access the input jacks on the TV, so you can play your own DVD's, with your own player. Great for the kids. A coffee make, refrigerator and microwave is provided, as well as a separate sink for snack area cleanup.

Breakfast is provided in a common area near the lobby. It's self service, with a nice selection of cereals, muffins, bagels, sausage biscuits, juice, coffee, tea and milk. I particularly liked making waffles with pre-mixed batter and simple to operate waffle maker - very tasty. You can take your breakfast out to the adjoining pool area, which is clean and cool.

For dinner there are a number of choices near the hotel. My favorite was the Sugar Shack, which is about 5 minutes away and serves the best ribs I have ever had. The fare there is Jamaican, and it's all good. If you like beer, wash it down with a large can of Red Stripe! We also enjoyed the Isles Restaurant which is more formal (and a little pricey) but the view is fantastic, as is the food and service.

It is easy to get to North Myrtle Beach, from Ocean Isle beach, for even more choice of restaurants. It is about a half hour drive.

There is a very new Lowe's Foods about 5 min from the hotel, where you can stock up on food and drink. And the are beach shops in case you forget your beach towels (like we did).

There is an early check in fee - maybe a little pricey, but we paid it to get a few extra hours on the beach on the first day.

And of course the main attraction is the beach. A very clean, wide beach. The fishing pier is a short walk north. You can rent chairs and an umbrella for $20 a day (it was worth it).

Quiet beaches, pristine flat smooth sand, warm water and you can walk out into the Atlantic 100 feet and still have your head above water. Location is gorgeous. View from Oceanfront rooms is amazing. You can see the ocean from your bed! We actually watched dolphins swim by on 3 of the days we were there! Bring your binoculars!!! Rooms were comfortable, clean, like an average Marriott style room. Two sinks, two vanity mirrors, which was nice. The "Soundview" wasn't really great, definitely worth it to spend the few extra bucks on the OceanFront rooms. The town itself is also very small, very quiet, very beach resort-y. And outside of that is very rural. But only 45 minutes away is the bustling city of Myrtle Beach with LOTS to do....so you can have your quiet or go for some great shopping and attractions not too far away. The free wireless internet was great, strong connection! I just can't believe we paid an average of $105 for the room per night....just incredible!

We were treated very badly last year (June 08) by the OLD management and staff. Justin Harkey (NEW management since Oct 09) has cleaned house completely, both staff wise and room wise, and this is now THE place to stay on O'Isle Beach. From the friendly, accomodating and efficient front desk staff (Carrie & Laura) to the breakfast room staff and housekeepers, everyone is concerned with making the guests feel at home and exceeding their expectations. I mentioned a full trash can to Carrie at the desk, and within 30 minutes it was emptied. The views from the comfortable rooms are outstanding. The beach access and beach itself are outstanding. We will be back. We also recommend The Isles Restaurand (also managed by Justin). View fantastic, food fantastic, service fantastic.

Thanks for giving us a second chance! Sorry that your first visit was not what it should be, but you let us correct that and I think you. We thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback and comments.
It was nice to have you stay with us and we hope the next time you think about a trip to the coast you think of Ocean Isle Beach, and we would love to have your back with us again!

From the moment we checked in until checking out, our experience at the Islander Inn was fantastic. The staff was always smiling and friendly. When I was asking about pizza delivery, I was not just given the names of restaurants but the attendent looked up the numbers to give to me. Our room was freshened up every day and extra towels were always left for us with out us needing to ask.

Sitting on the oceaneview balcony was so relaxing and quiet and beautiful, I really did not want to leave.

My daughter is 8 and she LOVED the indoor and outdoor pool and the spa, I personally would have liked the spa to be more of a hot tube, but that is just me. My 16 year old son loved having free wireless internet access in the room.
Everyone loved having the private access to the beach with a "surf shower" on the walkway.

Ocean Isle is the most beautiful, peaceful and family friendly beach we have found since leaving Texas. If OIB is your kind of place, make sure to make a beach stop in Port Aransas
