“A pleasant stop.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

My wife and I were lucky enough to attend a barrel room tasting dinner during our stay at The Sunset Inn. We did a tasting prior to the dinner and found the wines pleasant, but largely too tame for our tastes. The Seyval Blanc and "Rubio" were the two clear winners. The Seyval was crisp and refreshing, with overwhelming grapefruit flavor and acidity. The Rubio was very similar to a Port and was absolutely delicious. The barrel room dinner paired the Seyval with a cheese chimichanga, the Cabernet with a carne asada, and the Rubio with a pumpkin flan. The entire meal was wonderful and well paired with the three best wines the winery had to offer. The grounds and art gallery make the winery a must visit if you are in the area.

Hello Bon4417,

Thank you for taking the time to come into our Winery and for reviewing us here. I am sorry that you did not find our wines to your liking however we are very proud to have won over 300 National and International Awards for our wines. We make European-style wines that are not common in the area but we have been recognized in Wine Enthusiast Magazine for our Touriga. Our Winemaker hails from the Finger Lakes of NY and is revered in the industry as an innovative winemaker.

While our wines might not be to your taste, there are some other great wineries in the area that feature Muscadine wines which tend to have a different taste than when we offer. Try Grapefull Sister's Vineyard in Tabor City, NC and try La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River, SC. Each of the Wineries has something different to offer.

Cheers,

Rebecca

Great place to stop, their website doesn't do the place justice. Whites were better then their reds but all pretty good.

“Great stop while at the beach - stock up”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012 via mobile

We visited both the southport tasting room and the actual winery in ocean isle. The winery is very Nice.
Large tasting room with local art. We were given several tastings beyond the 5 limit but also bought 6 bottles, which entitles you to a free tasting and discount. Very good wines, which we are now enjoying at our beach rental. It is worth the stop.

“Silver Coast Wine Tasting, Southport NC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

we had a most delightful time yesterday at Silver Coast Wine Tasting, Southport NC Spent the day on Bald Head Island, then stopped at the wine tasting on our way home. Enjoyed learning how to sip wine to get all the flavors from different types of wines ... great staff, perfect last stop before road trip home.

penguinUSA,

Thank you for stopping in to see us! Our Tasting Room in Southport is new and has been open less than a year so make sure you tell all of your friends about us!

If you need your wine fix a little closer to you, the Silver Coast Winery in Ocean Isle Beach, NC is just off of Highway 17 about a mile and a half inland.

We hope to see you again soon!

Cheers,

Rebecca
