The "new" building the desk clerk assigned us to could not have been new at all...maybe new to the Sheraton acquisition team is all we could figure, since the elevator was old enough to have dirty carpeting, as well as more than a few bumps and gouges and the pipe handrail at the entrance seemed to have been recently installed by a drunkard. A little strange, too, was the central fountain in the lobby that had water in it even though it was not operating. But nonetheless, the room was clean and a good size, the decorating was nice, and the little balcony had a wonderful view of the water. We wanted a refrigerator and a microwave but got a flat screen TV instead. The room was quiet, likely because it seemed as if we were the only people in the place. The 2 double beds were not lumpy but seemed a little too springy for our sleep styles. A nice ceiling fan and central air were a bonus. No noisy, annoying air conditioner under a window, thank goodness. One little issue and not a problem with the room, but a problem with the on-site restaurant. Both of us had a bout with food poisoning after dinner.

Last minute stay. Planned to laze by the pool before a function. OOPS, pool not open. roped off. Very little outdoor space to hang out. Hotel is still being renovated - so you may want to wait a month or two before staying here. Staff very nice. Newly renovated room was very nice, comfortable bed, flat screen tv. bedroom area large and comfortable (we stayed in the older section) Bathroom and closet very small. Airconditioner very noisy- you will need to set it on about 66 to stay cool. You will hear it when it kicks on. Can't beat the view. However- if the comfort suites has an opening - that is my preferred hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel several times before and reading the reviews I was dubious about returning. The advantage to me, as a pilot, is the free airport shuttle. The hotel is OK, but quirky.
We stayed on the 4 the floor (room 407), newly remodeled and poorly designed, but quite clean with a comfy bed and quiet. 3rd floor is being renovated and was closed as of this posting.
Negatives: Soft water leaves you feeling unrinsed after shower, but clean. Poorly placed outlets so furniture had to moved to plug in laptop. Inadaquate towel racks in bathroom and sink counter too small.
Positives: Location and view of marina. Walking distance to restaurants and historic district. Manager's reception with decent wine, beer and appetizers. Cordial, helpful staff. Wi-Fi access. Airport shuttle.
For those concerned about the "soft water". I think it's an issue at the Comfort Inn also. I was OK with it, and will stay here again.

This hotel needs many improvements. It should be shut down till they are made. The rooms have a bad smell in them, mold on the walls, a/c sounds like a train. This place needs to be rebuilt or change into a Days Inn. Very overprice for the charges and what you have to deal with. I will complain to the locak health dept.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times in the past. At one time, it was quite nice, back then, the best in New Bern. However, it has really gone downhill badly over the past 2 or 3 years. My last stay there will be my LAST stay there. Had to park 2 blocks from the hotel due to inadequate parking, front desk was understaffed, so had to wait to deal with surly clerk, and the room was in horrible condition. The rate was no bargain, either, though it would have been about right IF everything had been in perfect condition, and service was good, but neither was the case.
