“Great first impression of Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2006

My husband and I just experienced our first stay ever in a Bed and Breakfast. We were fortuate to have stayed in the Aerie B&B as first timers. This has certainly opened our eyes to a new way to vacation. We were greeted from the moment we walked up to the front door ,with the welcome of friends. Michael and Marty were awesome host and made our stay very memoriable. They truly went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their home. The facility was very clean and inviting. Our bed was very comfortable, and the entire house is decorated for beauty and comfort. The breakfast each morning(made by Marty)was a true experience in itself. One of our concerns in staying in a B&B was if we would feel like we had privacy. This was not a problem. We would recommend this Bed and Breakfast, it is first class all the way. If you stop in to see Michael and Marty any time soon, tell them that the table that he wanted to buy for the Kennebec Room looks very nice in our home. (He can explain) WE really enjoyed our stay and have plans to return to the New Bern area again. Of course we will stay as guest in the Aerie B&B. Thank you for such a nice time in your home. You BOTH work so hard to provide your guest with excellant accomadations. We enjoyed your company, and the information you provided about your very interesting town. I would also like to thank Marty for walking over to the estate sale and helping me carry my wonderful treasures back to your home. Also, for helping me wrap the dishes that I had bought. They truly went out of their way, as I said before.

Our daughter was married at the Aerie B&B on September 16, after only two weeks time for planning. Since her dad and I live near Milwaukee, WI, and she lived in Jacksonville, FL, it was a real challenge to plan a wedding in New Bern, NC! After locating several B&B's in New Bern via the internet, we finally settled on the Aerie.
Michael and Marty, our hosts, made our daughter's small, impromptu wedding a truly memorable experience. They recommended the minister, the florist, and the restaurant for after the ceremony. They set up their lovely courtyard for the ceremony, including a carpet runner and an organza-draped arch. A rose and ribbons adorned the bride and groom's champagne glasses. Even the weather was perfect!
We and the new couple loved every minute of our stay at the Aerie. The home is immaculate, and every room is beautifully decorated with period antiques and warm colors. The fabulous beds are draped in luxurious linens, and the private bathrooms are appointed with every necessity--right down to night lights and hairdryers. The breakfasts were homemade, hearty and delicious, and the evening social hour provided a special time to meet other guests.
What more could we have wanted?
We are so happy that our daughter and new son-in-law will live in the New Bern area for a few years; we will definitely take the opportunity to visit the Aerie again! The bride and groom have already decided they will stay there on their anniversary!

My husband and I stayed at the Aerie Bed and Breakfast in August 2006 and it was a lovely experience. We've stayed at quite a few B&B's in the past and this was one of the nicest. The owners were great hosts. We booked at the last minute and they even helped to accommodate our schedule, you can't find that at a big chain!
I would recommend this B&B highly!

Just returned from our first visit to The Aerie Bed and Breakfast.
The inn is lovely, great location, superb accommodations and "amazing breakfasts". The inn is immaculate and the housekeeping staff is first rate. Innkeepers Marty and Michael are gracious hosts. They are a wealth of information about area attractions. We will return to "The Aerie".

The Aerie Inn Bed & Breakfast in New Bern provided a wonderful experience while visiting this charming and historic town with the friendliest and nicest people one can ever meet.

It offers true hospitality and excellence in every respect. One half is the physical aspect. The inn is immaculate and the furnishings exquisite. The bedding is great. The location is right in the heart of the historic district within minutes walk to the trolley tour, Tryon Palace, and historic homes, as well as restaurants and the waterfront. It has off-street parking in the rear, but you won't have to drive while staying here.

The other half of the experience is breakfast. Unbelievably delicious and beautifully presented, breakfast consist s of a "starter" and a choice of three main dishes. The best pancakes and omelettes ever.

But other distinguishing factors contribute just as much to making this inn very special. Marty and Michael, as innkeepers and hosts, are just perfect; friendly, most accommodating and gracious without being pretentious or overbearing. It is evident that they love what they do.

And the "little things" that add a lot to your comfort and enjoyment. . . Coffee & tea available as of 6:30AM for early risers; a complimentary wine-and-cheese hour which provided stimulating conversation with other guests, and 24-hour complimentary access to a refrigerator stocked with water bottles and sodas. There is also a library of books and movies for the guests.

After being turned off by other B&B experiences, the Aerie Inn was a wonderful surprise and a sheer delight!

Trust me, it doesn't get any better than this! My husband drove from Boston to Charleston and New Bern looked like a lovely town to explore and spend the night. We couldn't have made a better choice. The town itself is charming...a throwback to the 50's and the Tryon Palace was within walking distance of the Inn. It was the best B & B we have ever stayed in. Michael and Marty are the perfect hosts and thought of everything from a beautiful room (the Kennebec) with plush bedding and comfy bathrobes, to an afternoon complementary beverage and snack hour, and a fabulous breakfast we won't soon forget! They are also very helpful with restaurant recommendations. They deserve all the praise other reviewers have shared. You won't be disappointed! We would go back in a heartbeat...we just wish it was in New England.

My husband and I just returned from 3 wonderful nights at the Aerie Inn. This historic old home was immaculate. The hosts (Marty and Michael) anticipate their guests' every need, and offer extensive information about places to go and things to see in coastal NC. The breakfasts were marvelous. Each one begins with a starter served elegantly in a small parfait glass followed by a choice of 3 scrumptious breakfast entrees. Each evening our hosts offer their guests appetizers and a choice of lemonade or wine served in the parlor or outside in the courtyard. We certainly plan to return.
