Our family of four stayed here one night before we checked into our rental home. Taking all of the other reviews into consideration, the room was cleaner than I expected. The linens were a good quality, the vending and ice machines were convenient, and the grounds in general were well-maintained. Our room was facing the parking lot, and that was fine given that we were only staying for the one night. There are oceanfront rooms, but they are more expensive, as would be expected. The hotel has its own private beach access and chairs/umbrellas which are available for rent and reasonably priced. There is a pool which is indoor only, but was welcome when it became rainy in the afternoon. There is also a hot tub in the indoor pool area, which is the same size/type that someone might have for their home. One family member who went into the tub thought the water was a little gross. There is also a nice patio area outside of the indoor pool area with tables and chairs. We would have sat out there longer had it not been for the group of people smoking cigarettes in the corner and the propane exhaust coming from the side of the building. The complimentary breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, water, small pastries and the famous sweet potato biscuits from a local restaurant. The biscuits were really good tasting but heavy. You could heat up your biscuits or pastries in a small microwave and eat them with the butter provided. The breakfast suite was kept very clean and well-stocked by a woman who stayed in the kitchen area the entire time. This hotel offers a fairly good value for the money, but we were definitely happy to check out and move onto our rental home.

Room Tip: If staying for more than a few days, then pay a little more and get an oceanfront room.

Thank you for taking the time to review your 1 night stay with us. The Nags Head Inn is a completely non-smoking facility and the guests who were smoking on the pool sun deck were doing so with total disregard for the rules. (Our non-smoking policy is clearly stated at check in – no smoking anywhere in the building or on the balconies) Had the staff been aware of the smoking, we would have put a stop to it immediately. I am sorry that these people interfered with your enjoyment of the outside pool deck.
We are glad that you enjoyed the biscuits in the morning and the cleanliness and comfort of our hotel. We hope that you enjoyed your entire vacation on the Outer Banks and will return soon.

Title about sums it up ............. from the time of check in till the time we left - nothing special.

Whole place was just kind of blah,

The blonde lady that checked us in was unfriendly. She acted like we ruined her day when she had to check us in and answer a few brief questions in regards to the hotel.

If a quick 2 day beach "no frills" trip is your plan then this is the place for you. Otherwise Its a generic family hotel with plenty of kids and no extras.

On a positive note - the location was good. Not enough for a revisit though

Room Tip: Nothing to see here - move along - move along

We are sorry that you were not completely satisfied with your stay at the Nags Head Inn. Our staff is friendly and welcoming to all of our valued guests and we are sorry that you did not feel as if you were treated in that manner. The hotel is located in a central location in Nags Head and we work to provide all of our guests (many are families) with a clean, comfortable place to stay on the oceanfront.

Just returned from 4 nights at Nags Head Inn. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and helpful and the view from the balcony was beautiful. The location made a good starting point to visit the sites and attractions of the Outer Banks. The kettle corn made a great snack for the trip home.

Nothing great about the Nags Head Inn. Good location but rooms are very dated and I think over priced. The problem is that there isn't a great selection in the area. The lobby leaks every time it rains and the indoor pool also is not a great attraction, one again old and dated.

This was a well maintained hotel on the oceanfront in Nags Head. I spent one night there so I could go see the Lost Colony. The beach access was very good and there was plenty of parking. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Some hotels on the Outer Banks are very beaten down or have lots of mold and mildew. It is obvious that the owners of this hotel work to keep it in good condition!

Room Tip: Roadside rooms have a nice view of the sunset!

We stayed in a street view room with our two children (3 and 5). We had a king room and used the pull out sofa bed for the kids. The room is nothing special, but it was clean and gave us what we needed, a place to sleep and take naps. The rest of the trip was spent at the beach or out and about. The breakfast offered was enough to fill us up, we bought some fruit and kept it in the fridge in our room to supplement the biscuits. Being on the beach was very convenient for the whole family. We could take our 3 year old to the room for a nap while the 5 year old stayed at the beach. Overall it was the perfect hotel for us, not too expensive, right on the beach and comfortable and clean.
