“Expensive, but good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

According to the menu all the seafood is fresh and local. We found a varied menu and the seafood did appear to be fresh. We are a couple of average size, but where we were sitting it felt very cramped. The tables seemed close together and we felt like we were part of our neighbors conversations. It was busy, but not crowded, and not a place I'd consider during the summer months. Reservations aren't accepted and there was no wait for us on the Saturday evening after Christmas. The food was good, but was a bit more expensive than we have paid for similar meals in the Outer Banks. The service was outstanding in the bar area and also the restaurant.

There are so many restaurants in the Outer Banks that serve excellent seafood and we'll probably put this one at the middle of our list.

“I always expect better here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

The fresh, local seafood is a great draw here, but the rest of the experience has not been good for us. It's a few miles from our house, so we've eaten here many times, usually when family is in town. We went Sunday after Thanksgiving and there were very few customers. We had two young kids and were hoping for a relatively quick meal. The server was harried and it took at least 45 minutes to get our meal. There were only a few tables left when we finished at 8:00, but at least 10 tables not cleared. Normally I would chalk it up to a bad night, but we seem to always have the same experience. The entrees are $20 to $30, which is on the high end for the OBX.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

We had Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet at the Lone Cedar and thought we had died and gone to heaven. Everything was delicious from appetizers to entrees to desserts. Most buffets offer quanity and variety but few offer "quality" as well. The service was outstanding as we never had an empty glass as well as condiments were constantly being offered. If we are ever at the beach in November again we will be making Lone Cedar our Thanksgiving stop. Wish we could take it home with us to Virginia!

“Awesome food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Nothing to dislike... great bar and food, beautiful location. The restaurant and bar are very roomy, lots of windows throughout with great views. Regular stopover when hitting the banks.
