If you are looking for a gourmet meal and willing (or happy) to pay the the price for all that comes with it, then Sam & Omie's (S&O) is not the place for you. S&O is a great little place with reasonable prices, friendly staff, good food, a decor of times past, and a nice bar. It is the Outer Banks version of the neighborhood pub in the UK. Tonight I had the fried oysters and clam strips, washing it down with a couple of pints of their best draft. The oysters and clam strips were perfectly prepared, much better than ones I had in Florida a couple of winters ago. And, on top of that, I was presented two squeeze bottles - one with cocktail sauce and one with tartar sauce to use as I decided. To complete the meal - chocolate peanut butter pie. Peanut butter and chocolate in a pie, what a taste sensation, and it even tasted great with my last few sips of beer. S&O's is the kind of place that I could see becoming one of my regular places if I lived in Nags Head. If you don't care about all the fancy stuff that goes with your dining experience but just want a good meal, reasonably priced (and a cocktail or pint possibly) try Sam & Omie's.
