We were a little worried because there were such mixed reviews. So, we asked a local, the lady who worked at Jennette's pier. She said she absolutely loves it. So, across from the Pier and into Sam & Omie's we went!
We hit at about 3:30pm, late lunch for us. It wasn't crowded, but for that hour, it had a good crowd. You seat yourself and within just a few seconds, our server came up and had our drink orders. She must have been part-Ninja, because she would show up with whatever we needed before we even knew we needed it! GREAT service!
Ordered fried shrimp for me, fried clams for the hubby. Got a side of fries and fried veggies (are you sensing the artery-clogging theme here?) for me and hubby got fries and coleslaw. Oh, and you got a square of sweet cornbread with them, too. It was delicious!
I am not a huge fan of french fries. These were awesome! Perfectly crispy and super-hot. My fried veggies were good, too. Husband reports the cole slaw was icy-cold, crunchy and wonderful.
The fried seafood was so good! The clams were as thick as my thumb, and were perfectly cooked. The breading on the shrimp was light and the shrimp were huge and firm.
Our total bill, with 2 soft drinks and all the food above, was just over $35, without tip.
Oh, the review about the "thin" cocktail sauce was spot-on. It tasted good, but wouldn't stick. So, I just squirted it out all over the seafood and went from there. Messy, but yummy!
