“Great seafood, service and people!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I have been really looking for a good seafood place, so I drove 300 miles to Kill Devil Hills to chow down and do some hang gliding. I saw Armstrongs' sign and pulled right in. The seafood case is stocked with fresh rockfish, shrimp and flounder, so I ordered the rockfish, fried, and a dozen oysters, half raw and half steamed to see what it was like. The oysters were super fresh and slightly briney, I like them better raw than steamed but it was worth a try. The rockfish came out perfectly fried, thin but crisp coating was delicious. I ordered mine with sides of fried potato dusted with old bay and corn fritters which were really good as well.
Excellent seafood! Looks to be a newer place and they are doing everything right!

“The best seared-tuna sandwich you will ever eat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

This market sells fresh raw seafood and also cooked items. We were inspecting the short but wonderful selection, saw no fish sandwich, and asked the counter person if a fish sandwich was available. "I'll cook anything in the counter for you," answered the counter person, who was none other than Mrs. Armstrong herself. She coated a big ol' slab of tuna in ground black pepper, seared it perfectly, and served it simply on the right bun. Along with this we got three steamed blue crabs done beautifully, a dozen sweet raw middleneck clams and a couple of beers, and ate at a picnic table outside. All of this for a really moderate price for any location, and downright cheap for the Outer Banks.
