“Excellent food, service, atmosphere - a pleasant surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

Our first choice restaurants had long wait time so we decided to try this cafe -- we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food we had and the service was excellent. The southern fried chicken was the best I've ever had in a long time. Lightly battered crispy and juicy all at the same time. I wished they came w waffles...hint hint to the chef. Fettuccini Alfredo w crab meat was excellent. A bit pricey but worth the money. Sauce had the right consistency and there was plenty of crabs meat. The fish and chips was light and crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. My husband made a good choice. Corn pudding is worth mentioning. If I had some room, we would hv tried their dessert. The good thing is they are offering breakfast, so we'll be back tomorrow to try that. It definitely a good find. We visit the outer banks every year and we will definitely be back.

“small but good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

This year we decided to try new (to us) restaurants. The Old Nags Head Cafe has a decent variety on the menu, and dishes well prepared. Our party of Nine was overall satisfied. My bacon wrapped wahoo was excellent. Would definitely consider again if waits were too long elsewhere.

“Good food and service- no wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

We tried this place for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. We came in a group of 9 and were seated right away...always an issue with big groups in this area where few take reservations. All of our food was good. Servers were very friendly. It sounds like it's known for breakfast, but dinner was a good choice for us. Chowder, grouper special and the coconut shrimp were the clear favorites, but no one had a bad meal. Enjoy.

“best food on the outer banks, by far!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

The food here is phenomenal and beautifully presentated! A little pricey, but definitely well worth it! The fried green tomatoes were awesome!!! We liked this cozy place so much, that we ate dinner here twice during our weeklong vacation. We've been vacationing on the Outer Banks for 10 years now, and this is the best food on the beach by far!!! .

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

We happened upon this restaurant after being put on a wait list at two other restaurants. We were seated immediately, which made me nervous, but the food and service was great! The place is pretty small, but seriously will be back in the future. The coconut shrimp is delicious!
