This Hotel is located right on the beach, and having multiple stories should provide a visiting guest a fantastic view. So why would the Management screw up such a great location and have half the customers unhappy. Since first impressions are so important I can't think of a reason for the check in counter to be placed in the rear of the lobby, and off to the side.. Having stayed in many hotels I can't ever remember such an odd placement. Our room ( on the second floor) should be rated a 2 star. Every door in this room had to be slammed to close, Ceiling tiles had
water damage, our bathroom ceiling at the fan had mold growing on it. the bathroom floor grout looked like it had not seen a cleaning in a long time. Our shower spray attachment which
should have allowed for adjustment of spray was broken, and the water pressure was barely
adequate. Paint was chipped off the doors, and walls. Walls next to the bathroom counter at the floor tiles had holes that you could put a golf ball in. The second floor hallway has a temporary office built just past the elevators, ( another odd thing to encounter ) and we noticed that some ceiling tiles in the hallway had water stains also. We also had a cookie that was on the room floor when we arrived...
Breakfast in the morning was good, but once again I have to ask, since Waffles are so popular
and you have two waffle machines, and one is broken, why not have a replacement so that the
one that is broken could be removed and replaced ? Would it be that expensive and it would provide a spare should one break down.
I dialed the staff once we were settled in our room and a very nice gentlemen came up to our room and cleaned the mold from our bathroom ceiling, and said that they would replace the ceiling tiles, but that never happened. He emptied the trash can that contained the cookie and ran a vacuum over the carpet. I asked if the building structure was ok, since none of the doors in our room could be closed without rubbing on the frame. ( I expected him to say that Sandy had
caused major damage to the structure.) but instead he explained that the renovations had not been completed..
Apparently this hotel has partially completed a renovation according to the young man, but they ran out of time. Sounds like an excuse from management. Come on, if you have enough contractors to renovate half the hotel, hire twice that many and do the whole thing. the cost is the same and it gets done in half the time and you don't have customers that are rating you poor on tripadvisor and vowing to never return.
I think the top floors are renovated... so try to get a room above the 4th floor.
