“Nice getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

We had a nice view of the ocean. I am handicapped so it is hard for me to walk on the beach but it was so nice to wake up every morning to just a nice view. Breakfast was good each morning but the eating area seemed crowed and very hot. The second morning they opened another sitting area after we had eaten. The girl that checked us in on Thursday night was very friendly and helpful. She was more friendly than the ones we talked to on Friday night. Room was fairly clean. Had a little sand and dirt in bathroom. But was very impressed with the number of towels and washcloths in room. So many hotels do not put hardly any towels in bathrooms.

Room Tip: 3rd floor had a nice view but you may want to ask if you are near the pet friendly rooms. Someone ne...

The Comfort Inn at Nags Head was a good place to stay. As the rates go, it was reasonable. The hot breakfast was a big plus. It was very close to the Beach. I did not have an Ocean Front View but could see the Ocean from my window. I did not think paying an extra $40 extra per night was worth it. The rate I paid on Sep 3rd was $90 compared to $130 had I wanted Ocean Front. The room was clean however the bathroom was very dated and had tons of caulk around the tub. I suppose too much is better than not enough. The bathroom floor could have been a little cleaner. The maid service was fair, our bed was not made up after the first night (spent two nights there) probably because we had pulled the bed spread up onto the bed but it was not made up.

Room Tip: If Ocean Front is important, be prepared to pay a little extra. Nice Deck out back to eat breakfast...

We stayed for 5 days at this hotel. Below are our comments:
1) The room is a bit small compare to other hotel for the same rate. The bed is very soft and sleeping is quite uncomfortable.
2) Wi-Fi is weak. A certain spot in the room can not get Wi-Fi. The speed is 2Mbit/sec upload and 2Mbits.sec down load. Wi-Fi speed is barely OK. It should be 5Mbit/sec
3) Very small balcony and smelly balcony...don't know why. We think someone released out there. We tried to wash it but it did not help.
4) Bathroom is quite old. The floor is kind of black due to old age. Bathtub looks brown and bad. Need to be replaced
5) The two beds are small size (between twin and full). Two kids may have trouble sleeping on the same bed.
6) The AC unit is quite noisy and doesn't work well. Should replace with a better one.
7) Breakfast room is small and not enough tables. It has a deck connected to it with chairs but no umbrellas. It is better to bring the breakfast back to your room.
8) In our room, the faucet is leaking on to the towels below.
9) The bathroom door is creaking quite loud when open or close. If someone is using it at the middle of the night...it will wake people up.
10) The room has no oven, not even a toaster
11) TV (32") has many channels but has no Closed-Captioning. It is kind of strange.
12) The laundry room has two washers and two dryers. Definitely not enough to serve the guests.
13) Generally, this is an old hotel with some make-up. The carpet looks old, the elevator looks beat-up..I doubt it that we will go there again.

Room Tip: The view of the parking is also facing the water (far away). Ocean front view does not look a lot be...

My family and I spent 10 wonderful days at this hotel this summer.Jenni Sawyer, the assistant manager and her staff made us feel like family the entire stay. the pool and the beachfront location made for a great, relaxing time. you r within 2 minutes of the Premium Outlet Mall and plenty of great restaurants. If you r looking for a relaxing, and great family vacation, the comfort Inn at nags Head, north, carolina is the place to be. I hope Jenni gets to run her own hotel,as GM asap.

Room Tip: Ask for a high, ocean front room

This Hotel is located right on the beach, and having multiple stories should provide a visiting guest a fantastic view. So why would the Management screw up such a great location and have half the customers unhappy. Since first impressions are so important I can't think of a reason for the check in counter to be placed in the rear of the lobby, and off to the side.. Having stayed in many hotels I can't ever remember such an odd placement. Our room ( on the second floor) should be rated a 2 star. Every door in this room had to be slammed to close, Ceiling tiles had
water damage, our bathroom ceiling at the fan had mold growing on it. the bathroom floor grout looked like it had not seen a cleaning in a long time. Our shower spray attachment which
should have allowed for adjustment of spray was broken, and the water pressure was barely
adequate. Paint was chipped off the doors, and walls. Walls next to the bathroom counter at the floor tiles had holes that you could put a golf ball in. The second floor hallway has a temporary office built just past the elevators, ( another odd thing to encounter ) and we noticed that some ceiling tiles in the hallway had water stains also. We also had a cookie that was on the room floor when we arrived...
Breakfast in the morning was good, but once again I have to ask, since Waffles are so popular
and you have two waffle machines, and one is broken, why not have a replacement so that the
one that is broken could be removed and replaced ? Would it be that expensive and it would provide a spare should one break down.
I dialed the staff once we were settled in our room and a very nice gentlemen came up to our room and cleaned the mold from our bathroom ceiling, and said that they would replace the ceiling tiles, but that never happened. He emptied the trash can that contained the cookie and ran a vacuum over the carpet. I asked if the building structure was ok, since none of the doors in our room could be closed without rubbing on the frame. ( I expected him to say that Sandy had
caused major damage to the structure.) but instead he explained that the renovations had not been completed..
Apparently this hotel has partially completed a renovation according to the young man, but they ran out of time. Sounds like an excuse from management. Come on, if you have enough contractors to renovate half the hotel, hire twice that many and do the whole thing. the cost is the same and it gets done in half the time and you don't have customers that are rating you poor on tripadvisor and vowing to never return.

Room Tip: I think the top floors are renovated... so try to get a room above the 4th floor.

My wife and I decided on a spur of the moment drive from Surf City NC all the way to the top of the Outer Banks, We ferried from Cedar Island to Ocracoke then drove to our first night's destination, the Comfort Inn in Nag's Head. We can be at the beach any time we want to here at Topsail Island so ocean views weren't a priority, but I figured that at 237 dollars a night this must be a place that's several cuts above the average in other aspects, like an attractive lobby, clean smelling, in good repair in every respect. You open the front door and it's, oh, oh! I've seen better furniture in YMCA lobbies, and there was the musty smell of a fifty dollar hotel everywhere, every surface looked old and beat up, especially the elevator. Our room had a perfect view of over filled dumpsters and discarded mattresses and a rusty freight container. When I called the desk to ask if this is the best they could for 237 dollars (plus tax) she told me that ocean view rooms were 337 dollars that night. The 'town view' that we had was in fact of slovenly back yards. This hotel must have an army schilling for it because I can't believe all the glowing reviews it's getting. I've stayed in worse places, but not at this OUTRAGEOUS PRICE.

Thank heavens for a 7th floor room where we could see all the way down the beautiful beach! The location can't be beat, and Nag's Head is THE town on OBX you want to stay in. If you choose a hotel and not a house rental, THIS is the place to stay. We loved our 3 nights here. Very good breakfast. Recommended!

Room Tip: Work to get a beach-view on a high floor!
