I should have written this last year after my trip but never got to it and I apologize. Because after searching another property this year and have first hand experienced the effectiveness of using TripAdvisor, I realized I had better " get er done" before this year's summer vacation season kicked off. The Buccaneer is a nice little Best Western tucked away from Atlantic Beach but still relatively close (driving) not walking. Parking at the beach was easy to find, though. It was worth the savings and the proximity to restaurants and having a grocery store right behind the motel to stay at the Buccaneer rather than right on the beach. In Atlantic Beach there aren't many chain restaurants, just mainly mom and pop joints, and the same for grocery items, but it did not bother us to drive a little because Atlantic Beach is a quiet, quaint, family friendly area. The staff at the motel were quite friendly, the rooms were always cleaned thoroughly every day and the other patrons were respectful. I did cringe the first night when a group of electricians I believe showed up and booked out the other backside rooms next to us. but other than hearing their doors close early in the morning, they were very quiet. The complimentary breakfeast you get next door at the restaurant is good and a full breakfeast but has 3 choices, are not very big servings and can require a little bit of a wait if you go too late like after 8 a.m. But all in all, I would stay here again for the location and price. My only complaint about my stay has nothing to do with the motel but with the town of Atlantic Beach police department. I got pulled over for not having my seat belt on which I usually wear, but we had just pulled out into traffic and the kids were yelling and what do you know, right there was an officer checking and let me tell you they are big on their seat belt laws. The town has signs proudly displaying their levels of seat belt compliance. So I should have known this, but the officer wanted me to pull over to the left into the median instead of over to the far right out of traffic. Well, in my home state, we pull over to the right when we are being stopped, not the far left.. Anyways, I got a chewing about it, and I explained myself and actually only got a warning, so I should consider myself lucky... Still a good stay and I would come back but I'll be making sure I have my seat belt on when I come into Atlantic Beach and will pull to the left if I get stopped. ha.
