“Not the greatest Hampton Inn I've stayed at”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2008

I recently stayed at this hotel on my way to the Outer Banks. Fortunately it was only for one night. The location is decent and overall the hotel is not terrible, but it was not what I have come to expect from Hampton Inn. My room was relatively tidy, but the tub in the bathroom had visible mold around the edges and fixtures. It seemed that might be a significant problem for the hotel as there were humidifiers running throughout the hallways. Knowing what I know now about heading out to Cedar Island, I might have chosen the Hampton in Havelock and the slightly longer drive out to the ferry in exchange for this Hampton. The price would have been cheaper too.

Room up to Hampton Standard. Staff welcoming but breakfast mediocre. Room clean and satisfactory with a view of the water.
We had dinner at the 'Bistro By The Sea' which is just yards from the hotel. This was very good and we can recommend it. Hotel seemed to cater for business as much as tourist trade.

Chose to do some in state exploration over the Easter weekend. Had a lovely stay here, the water view is not the ocean but very lovely. Hotel is set back off the main drag so we didn't have any traffic noise, also were on the water side of the hotel. Good breakfast in the morning, cookies are served in the late afternoon. Personnel were very helpful.

The pool looked nice but the weather wasn't warm enough to try it out. The exercise room had a couple treadmills and was fine for me.

Everything as expected. Front desk staff were very accomodating with all my questions about the area. Rooms clean, the beds might have been a little more comfortable. Nice location. Seaside rooms have nice view of the bay. Pool is small but refreshing. Nice breakfast bar.

After checkin we found a coupon from the tourist info center. Brought it to the desk, they credited our bill. Price was reasonable for the area and season. Right across from a Golden Corral which had great food for an inexpensive buffet.

Spent almost two weeks there and when making the arrangements with the front desk, they gave us a upgrade due to the length we'd be there. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Rooms and other areas very well taken care of. Minor problems with the wireless internet but they were aware of the problem and said they were changing providers in a month or so.

I stayed at this hotel a couple of days in November. Like the previous posting I too was concerned with the apparent leak problem this hotel has. I decided to talk with the manager during the Tuesday Night Manager's Reception and they explained the ongoing problems. In Jan of '05 the roof was replaced on this building; however, due to some defective product provided by the roofing company when it is windy and rainy they can experience some leaks. The manager assured me that they are working on this and should begin replacing the roof again sometime in late December. I love this hotel because of it's great staff and beautiful views. Please do not let some leaks deter you from staying here. I was happy to know that they will be fixing the problem soon and will be rplacing any items that have been affected by the water leaks. This is a great hotel to stay at!!

We stayed here during our coast-to-coast drive across the US. This was one of the older Hampton Inns of the trip (9th so far) but the room was clean and comfortable. The furniture was in adequate condition and the bed was good with the new bedding. The bathroom was a bit dated but clean. We had a nice view of the sound. The free internet was an OK speed. The free hot breakfast was good, but the dining area had quite a few holes in its ceiling which looked a mess. While it wasn’t as good as some of the brand new Hampton Inns we’ve stayed in, it certainly wasn’t the worst. I would recommend this hotel for now – but in a few years it will need a refurbishment.
