“Facinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2008

Great place for kids and adults! It's better to drive through than ride the wagon. Cheaper and you can stop when you want. My daughters loved petting and feeding the zebra. You can drive through as many times as you want, then come out and walk around and see more animals, and have ice cream or a picnic. We will be going back.

“We love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2008

We love going here through out the year. You can drive through or take a wagon ride tour of the park. The kids and most adults get a kick out of feeding the animals. They have a great picnic and play area as well.

“So Much Excitement and Fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2007

This is one of those great attractions in NC that is a totally MUST see! Once you find this place you drive through there welcoming entrance with llamas, donkeys, etc. roaming about fenceless. There are two ways to have fun in this ranch. You take the wagon ride safari, or you have your own safari in your own car. Either way is a total fun experience! I personally have not done the wagon ride but I have heard that it is great.

So you are asking, what is this place? Well, I will just tell you what it is like from the driving-in-your-own-car experience. What you do in the ranch is drive on a road that winds all around the ranch. Animals are roaming everywhere, waiting to be fed and to meet new friends. If you have sliding doors, then go ahead and slide those doors open. If you do not have sliding doors on your car, and wind those windows open. The animals (ostriches, deer, goats, llamas, etc.) will come to your car expecting to be fed from that bucket of food you would have bought at the general store. It is a thrilling experience to find a llama sticking it's head into your car searching for food. Beware, the ostriches are really serious about this food thing. Not only that, they are kind of scary. The girls in our car were constantly on the look out for ostriches, so that they can roll up those windows or slam those doors ahead of time.

The favorite experiences of this place in our car was first of all attempting to feed that beautiful fawn! We were able to do it too. The girls were thrilled to find themselves feeding a real baby deer from their hands! The other favorite is when we drove up tot he giraffe enclosures. The giraffes are enclosed in this tall fence so that they cannot get out and, well, do damage to your car. We thought the enclosure was to tall for the giraffes to lift down their heads and feed from our buckets. We were wrong. When we saw the daddy giraffe slowly lowering it's huge head for our window, we were thrilled! Feeding a giraffe is a once in a lifetime experience!

This is a place that is fun for ALL ages. Kids 5 and 6 love seeing all the animals, and if their brave enough, love feeding the animals. Older students and college students love the thrill of feeding a llama or deer with huge antlers and will be constantly screaming with delight. It is just such an exciting time filled with, "Oh, should I feed him? Oh, here comes an ostrich! Oh, look at that adorable fawn."

Warning- If drive in your own car, by the end of the safari trip your car will be in desperate need of cleaning both on the inside and the outside. But the one advantage of going in the car is that you are closer to the ground, thus closer to the animals.
