Wolf Laurel is quickly climbing the ladder to become one of North Carolina's finest skiing destinations. The mountain has always had some of the most excellent ski terrain for all skill levels. Now, with an all-new snowmaking system including beautiful, shiny Areco Snowsystem and Lenko fan-type machines, snow production here is excellent. They have new grooming equipment as well, and grooming conditions have improved tremendously over the last few years. The new, expanded ski patrol facilities help the mountains' hard working first aid personnel provide the best service possible. Last year, the lodge was expanded into a beautiful, western-style building with impressive native poplar and pine post and beam construction, which adds a large dose of atmosphere to the base area. Buying tickets and getting your rentals is a breeze, thanks to the new rental shop line which starts at the entrance to the lodge but stays separate and puts you out right at the lift area when you're done!
Access to the resort is easier than any other in WNC, due to the newly completed Interstate 26 through Madison County. The Interstate is 3 lanes wide with a gentle grade, making it easy to travel during snow.
You'll take exit 2 which is about halfway between Asheville, NC and Johnson City, TN. Then it's only 5 miles to the entrance of the resort along a mostly level state road. The road right up to the lodge is now paved as well, making snow removal much easier!
