“Clean, predictable, comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel over the weekend the weekend before July 4th with a group of 20 other people. I was hospitably greeted by the inkeeper, Allen, at the front desk when i walked into the office. This hotel only has about 20 rooms, so they can be very personal when it comes to service. Allen didn't even have to look up my reservation. I told him my name and he knew what room I was going to be in.

When I got the room, everything was clean and well maintained. The carpet was clean. The bed was well made, linens were clean, linens were very comfortable, and the pillows were better than average. This isn't your brand new mega hotel. It's a small, friendly, family-run inn.

There was a mini-refrigerator and microwave in the room. The mattress wasn't the best I've slept on but certainly not the worst. The sheets were certainly nicer than average. The A/C worked well in the 90-100 degree heat.

Since I was there with a group, we made full use of the fire pit out front for meeting as a group and winding down from our day.

Room Tip: The king size rooms are the nicest.

After a very poor experience with a motel in Cherokee we drove around for a couple of hours in the middle of the night looking for some place to stay. There were no rooms to be found (everyone had up "no vacancy" signs). We just happened on Hearth and Home in Maggie Valley. Although it was a typical motel, it was clean and well kept and the owners were beyond personable - - very willing to do whatever needed to make our stay happy. They even seemed very apologetic for our negative experience in Cherokee. If we return to the area, we most likely will stay there again.
