“Would never stay again”

I stayed in a room over the restaurant and it was not clean at all. Carpet is old and not clean. You have to walk to get ice at the office and cannot get a lot when you go. They are very strict about that. I really wanted to check out early but since I had already paid in full, I could not get a refund. I just would not stay in this room again. Maybe the other rooms are better but since it was full I really couldn 't see any other rooms.

We went up for the Maggie Valley Christmas Parade & stayed at the Riverlet. This was our 2nd or 3rd time staying there & we Love It. The rooms are very clean which is the most important thing to me. Staff could not have been nicer. We slept with our windows open & enjoyed the sound of the water running in the creek. Rates are excellent & it is just a good place to go to when you need to relax. Location is wonderful because you can walk anywhere you need to go in Maggie Valley. We have recommended it to friends & hopefully will be back there in the next few weeks. Yes it is an older hotel but the character makes up for it. I personally perfer Mom & Pop lodging than the big chains that have lots of noise all night long. At the Riverlet you will get a good nights sleep.

When we entered our room, the cable to the television was not connected and our men had to fix that, the light bulb in the ceiling fan was burned out and we had to take a bulb from another lamp to fix that, the toilet seat wouldn't stay up (we had to hear the men gripe about that all weekend), and it rocked back and forth when we sat down on it, and there was food in the fridge leftover from the guests before us. Then we discovered at midnight when we decided to go to bed that the futon was broken. Since the office was already closed and there was no way to contact management, two members of our party had to put the futon mattress on the floor and sleep there for the night. To the credit of the motel, they did bring in another futon the next morning. The linens seemed clean enough, but a good long look at the mattress and box springs told stories of many, many years of use. Our beds were made and fresh towels were left for each day of our stay, but the floor was not vacuumed during our stay.

The pictures on their website seem to have been taken several years ago. The foliage around the hotel and especially along the creek is much larger and thicker now, making fishing from the wall behind the motel difficult due to hanging tree branches, etc.

They do not allow outside grilling on property, and the "kitchen" area was very small with only two burners, a sink, a microwave and a dorm-sized fridge all on the same counter right behind the door. Not very convenient when trying to cook for 6 people.

They do offer a nice lawn area, plenty of outside seating with chairs & wooden gliders, a serene mountain setting and they are convenient to most everything Maggie Valley & the surrounding areas have to offer. The management was very friendly & helpful, and even let us use their office phone after we had already checked out (our cell phone didn't take the overnight charge).

All in all, not really what we expected, but okay for an older budget-friendly mountain motel.

the riverlet is an older hotel but it is well kept. the rooms show their age but it is clean which is my priority. they had a nice little restaraunt on site that served good food with good prices. had
a great deck by the creeks for sitting and listening to the water.
the pool was sorta small but it was heated, which is a must in maggie
valley. we will be going back in sep. for the bbq festival enjoyed the stay.

We spent Memorial Day weekend here, and had a great time. Friendly and helpful staff. This hotel is for those on a budget, so dont expect a over-priced, over-rated "snob" hotel like those nearby. We had a balcony overlooking the creek, and slept well with the windows open while the creek was rushing by below. The cafe had a good breakfast and was very clean. We will return soon!

When you pull into the parking lot of the Riverlet, you see this quaint little motel nestled between two creeks. There is a lovely deck where the creeks meet and its very serene. When we entered the room, the room was spacious with a very large window. The room was furnished with two queen size beds, a futon and a rocker. The rocker was broken, you could sit on it as long as you didnt move, or you would fall over to the side. The futon was beyond disgusting, I had to throw a blanket over it before I would allow my family to sit on it. The walls are paper thin, we could hear every word of conversations coming from the rooms on either side of us.The couple in one room began to fight and swear at each other at 1 am then made up, we discovered that the headboards are not connected to the walls and our heads were being thumped and the children were awaken. This continued all night. When we called the office numerous times, there was noone to recive the call. The next morning when we tried to go to the office to complain, we found that the office was locked up tight and you put your keys in a basket. Maggie Valley is a beautiful place to visit, but the bad experience of this motel is the memory we are left with.
