“A local haunt”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

Was very hesitate about trying this place due to other reviews, but you can please everyone. We were there at the end of the season and the food was fresh, and good. We recommend the pecan crusted Grouper fingers, Yum! We both had sandwiches, My husband the blackened grouper and I the fresh tuna.
We'll be back

“Frozen hush puppies dirty restaurant”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

We took out family on a ski trip and wanted to try a local restaurant. We asked a local and was told the Salty Dog was great! Our experience was quite different. We were seated at a booth with ripped seats with dirty windows. We thought it would be safe the order the fish sandwich special. We waited about 10 minutes for a drink, placed our order and literally froze in our seats. We asked about the heat and was told it was on. We decided to move to the bar area that had a fireplace. Our appetizer was hush puppies. They were cold. Our waitress brought out more and they were frozen. The fish was not fresh and very black. We asked to speak to a manger who was very rude and not at all apologetic. We were told all their food is fresh never frozen. I asked the manager to touch the cold hush puppy. She did and never agreed it was frozen. We never received an apology. It seems were just a bother to the manager. Subway would be
your best choice in the area. Take my advice don't go there!

“Nice place for seafood in the mountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

We had gone to Maggie Valley to have lunch and saw Salty Dog's. Thought we would try it out. Surprised that they offered clams, oysters, shrimp, scallops, mussels and a variety of other food. I had the grilled mountain trout and it was very good. The fried oysters are also very good. We will be back to try some their other menu items.

“Great food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Great service and friendly folks! Cold beer. We have eaten here many times. The fried green beans were a hit! The lunch special was a fried shrimp basket. Very reasonably priced. Love the food.

“When you are one of the two tables inside on a saturday, it should be a sign.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013 via mobile

First place we went out to eat and we were dissapointed. Fried pickles were great. Server was great. However the main meals came out cold and the shrimp was not cooked. Green beans had a good taste but they were cold as well. We were one of two tables and figured food would be very fresh and hot. We saw the bad reviews but ignored them and thought we would give it a shot.... oops!
