We took our visiting daughter and grandchildren for a sure fire great meal at Snappy's but boy, did we blow it. We arrived at about 5pm and were promptly greeted and seated. Waiter couldn't have been any nicer or more prompt. But then, other customers began arriving and that is when it seemed to fall apart.
Our small group of 5 ordered 2 kid meals and the 3 adults ordered and shared 1 three ingredient pizza. The order was taken promptly but the delivery was quite slow; 40 minutes. Not terrible service but certainly, not up to their prompt norm. The pizza was just shy of cold - low room temperature and somewhat congealed. The child's portion of spaghetti was perfect.
The culprit seemed to be a large party that came in and was seated in a side room. Snappy's didn't seemed to be staffed for that large a group on a Thursday but certainly bent over backwards to accommodate them. But at the cost of the other customers who watched their service fall apart as the few wait staffers were siphoned off the serve the large group. Several customers in our dining area commented about the sudden change in service.
Our final low point was when the server returned to present the bill but I told him we wanted to order dessert. He seemed quite confused by this but did ask if we wanted it to go. We did not, but by this time, it was apparent that we were expected to move along. He fetched a to-go container in a brown bag, I paid and we left. When I got home (less than 5 miles from Snappy's), I opened the bag and saw that we were given a dessert that was slightly smaller than a CD, no ice cream and looking quite unappetizing. Not the "delicious hot fudge cake" that was advertised. I took a picture to post with this review, but decided that was adding insult to injury.
I have taken my guests Snappy's over the years and have usually been quite pleased. But this time, it was not what we have come to expect. I rated it "average" but that is a bit of a gift. Hopefully, it was just a bad night.
