Traveling home from FL and decided to try Pier 41 based on TripAdvisor. Met two other couples also eating there because of TripAdvisor reviews, but most tables were filled with locals, which is always a good sign. Having lived in NC before, we were familiar with "Calabash" style seafood (batter fried), but rest assured that Pier 41 offers broiled, boiled, steamed, etc. However, our craving was for shrimp and oysters cooked this style and washed down with NC sweet tea. Both of us ordered the "small portion" and both servings were so large we took enough home for a second meal. The slaw was crisp and tasty and the hushpuppies were great. We had no room for dessert, but some looked good. The restaurant is currently undergoing renovation (taking out salad bar), so atmosphere is lacking, but service was fast and friendly. The owner, Steve, went table to table making sure everyone was enjoying their meal. Pier 41 made us remember what we loved about NC living - casual dining, southern cooking and friendly people. You'll leave smiling!

Thanks for the wonderful review. A few more weeks of renovations and hopefully our style points will rise. We look forward to seeing you on your next trip south to show it off. Have a great summer.
