The food was amazing. The people were all very friendly and willingly served us. The mountains in the distance were breathtaking. I had an absolute bllast staying there.

We heard there was a jaguar convention so we thought we would stop by and take a look. We were definitely impressed! The staff did everything in their power to accommodate us as well as the jaguar group. We spent the day admiring the cars then stayed up too late in their awesome bar! We will be back for many years to come!

We came across the Switzerland Inn while planning a tour along the lower end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cooler temps at its elevation sounded great; 70s for highs in hot July--wow. The inn was here long before the BR Parkway was conceived and is the only privately-owned property on the Parkway; exit and it's there.

SwitzInn is old with brass room keys, but the quality construction can stand the test of time. You can tell that it is loved by those who keep it up. Clean rooms, quickly cleaned the next morning by the maids.

A lovely common area in the lobby; wish we had arrived in colder weathers to experience what must be a great fire in the hearth. Spacious rooms with great beds, updated baths.

My one quibble is the prices at the attached restaurant. We were there for Thursday and Friday after the 4th of July; Thursday dinner was excellent. However, we're gluten-free, and the Friday night buffet had few selections for us. Breakfast was also a little more than I wanted to pay.

Room Tip: Pay more for the mountain view; you won't regret it. We picked the lodge and didn't hear o...

I am not sure how to rate this place. The location 5, the views 5, the lobby 5 but rooms 2 (we stayed at the main building 1 st floor with mountain view for $169 but the decoration, furniture, overall condition not different than 2 star hotel, although was clean), restaurant food 2 (servers friendly, we had seafood buffet for $32/person, reasonable value if the food was ok quality). The place has potential if they can match the quality of the rooms and restaurant with the location and view.

A great weekend in the mountains. We stopped in for a night and stayed for three,. There was a car club, Jaguars, and it was cool to see the cars displayed on the front lawn with the mountains behind them. If you are escaping the heat as we were, this is a great stop!!

We stayed in the chanticleer building and I was told it was one of the newer buildings on the property. It was huge with lots of space and a large balcony looking out at the mountains. The bed was comfortable but we could hear the next rooms guests talking and realized the walls are pretty thin. We originally had a room in the main building which was very dark and the shower needed to be cleaned. We switched to the chanticleer building and it was much better. The grounds were really nice and the view was the highlight of the property for sure. The restaurant had a good menu and our food was actually pretty good, but there was a huge pink lipstick stain on my glass that should have been very obvious to our server before I received it. Our silverware also needed to be replaced because it had dried food on it.
The staff were all very pleasant and seemed friendly, especially the waiter for our dinner who was clearly trying very hard to do a good job even though he wasn't perfect. Our stay was okay and the Switzerland idea behind the hotel was used correctly and not made into a lame tourist trap place, but there should be some attention paid to improving some of the rooms. This property has the potential to be something really special, but is just a regular hotel with a nice view.

P.S. to swissmtngirl, Owner at Switzerland Inn - your response to ktscott01 review was very condescending and seemed rude. I would expect better from the owner.

This was our second visit to Switzerland Inn. Even though it is a bit pricy, our first stay was very pleasant so we decided to return. One of the attractions of this Inn is to sit at the patio bar and enjoy the view. My husband made reservations well over a month in advance for out 28th anniversary. We made reservations for a King room with a view knowing that there were a limited number of King rooms with a view. When we checked in earlier than the normal check in time, we were given a room with 2 double beds. We were told, very non-chalantly, that was all they had left. There was an event going on at the Inn and it was obvious to us that our room had been given to someone else. We could not enjoy the patio bar because it was closed for the normal customer because of the event. When customers are making reservations they should be informed that an event is scheduled and that the patio bar will not be available. The double beds were not very comfortable. We will return to the Little Switzerland area, but will not return to the Switzerland Inn. The Inn should honor their reservations and not give away rooms that have been reserved well in advance.
