“Charming!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

We just loved this place! I was a little nervous that our room was on the 3rd floor and no elevator. However, you just head up the driveway in the back, and there you park your car to enter the 3rd floor. Mike is a great Inn Keeper! We enjoyed some of his craft beers. It was so nice of him to make a giant carafe of coffee in the morning to enjoy the balcony overlooking the mountains! The restaurant wasn't serving the night we arrived, but Joe (Mike's helper) suggested the Mountain View Restaurant located just down the hill. They have an awesome menu including North Carolina Rainbow Trout. Thanks Mike for being fantasic host!

Yes the place is a little rustic and such but this was EXACTLY what we wanted. Great food, great beer on tap, great conversation and the room was perfect. Felt like I was on the set of the The Bob Newhart Show. If you want a nice untainted place then this is the pefect place. We book 2 more night for the fall leave immediately.

Room Tip: Ask for third floor with Balcony

I loved this place. Our host Mike and his "Blue" were so gracious. We had reservations for three rooms/three nights. On our arrival they made sure we were checked in and fed. Not a lot of choices in the restaurant but what was available was delicious. You have to try the breakfast. (I had the waffle, eggs, and bacon with coffee and juice) Coffee set up was awaiting us when we got up in the morning in the vestibule. (no in room coffee maker or microwave) We had three rooms and all of us were happy with the accommodations. This isn't a Marriott. If you have to have luxuries then this isn't the place. If you want a clean place with lots of charm then this is the place for you. Beautiful old hardwood floors. Much of the trim is antique milled wood and it's beautiful. I stayed on the top floor. The view was fabulous. There is a wide balcony that goes across the front which overlooks one of the most gorgeous views you can possibly imagine. The baths have been remodeled with lovely tile. Plenty of hot water whenever you want. Two comfortable beds, lots of channels on the TV. Internet was rather iffy but I was glad to disconnect for a few days and focus on what's really important to me. There is a large covered carport that can be used to set up a grill and party area. We had a mountain top crab leg feast. Best crab feast ever! I hope I'm able to get back to see the autumn glory and catch the foliage changing.

Room Tip: The layout is a little different because of it being on a mountain. Street level holds the restauran...

We had 5 rooms. Got there later than expected. We had motorcycles and cars with us. Mike and his wife were so wonderful to us. They kept the restaurant open and fed us. I loved the history of this Inn. The marble floors, the wood work and the clean rooms. We played pool and enjoyed our visit so much we are going to make this a yearly trip.

Room Tip: Get a room on the balcony! If you can't you still have access. Rooms 301 (on balcony and on end...

You won't have a better time at a better place! An older venue with the rustic charm and value you expect from a different era. The proprietors really enjoy what they do and have a valued interest in the area, the hotel and you. We (my wife and I) leave with a heavy heart, meeting 2 fabulous folks who enjoy what they do. Come to Skyline Village Inn and you will see what I mean...

We wished we were staying more than one night in this neat historic inn just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Even though the building is old, the balcony rooms have been tastefully remodeled. The view is awesome and, even though the room had air conditioning, we just left our balcony door open all night to take advantage of the nice cool breeze coming down the mountain. The bed was comfortable and the home-cooked breakfast was very good. As others have said, we found the owners to be delightful people who have a real passion for running the inn. We arrived late and were treated as if it were still daylight. We will definitely be back for a longer stay next time!

Room Tip: Highly recommend the balcony rooms.

We stayed overnight for a motorcycle ride and found the owners to be waiting for us to arrive. They checked us all in and kept the diner open late for us to ensure we all had our fill of food and beverages. Rooms are very basic "old time" rooms but were clean and comfortable. In the morning they had breakfast ready to go. Everything is homemade, so expect a little time to get it prepared and served. A unique place that added to our trip. And one of the best views of the Blue Ridge!!

Room Tip: get a balcony room facing the mountains.
