“Best Pork BBQ in the world. No frills.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2011 via mobile

mobile review
I grew up in Davidson County and have eaten at pretty much every BBQ joint around here. Moved away 8 years ago, and this is the first place I come to when I come back home to visit. Not just the best in NC, but this is simply the best pork shoulder BBQ in the world. Period. I get the course chopped tray and some hushpuppies on the side. The steaks and BBQ Chicken are good for a small town smokehouse, too. Do not miss this place if you're passing through from Greensboro to Charlotte. It's the most convenient to the interstate of all the BbQ joints, and the service is friendly and exceptional. Don't expect frills. Just amazing BBQ.

“good and different eastern NC BBQ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2010

less than a mile off I-85 with ample parking. lexington is the BBQ capital of NC. Four of us ate here and the food was nice and different, the red slaw was slightly sweet and not too much vinegar and had no tomatoes as red slaw I have had everywhere else. The coarse BBQ is actually chunks of tender pork in a slightly sweet vinegar base sauce. They also serve skins..which is fried pork skins. ours were a little overdone, and some were burnt, but cruchy and served with BBQ sauce on the side. The potato salad was home made, and very good. We bought cookies for take along the trip desserts. They have a steak dinner for two for 19.99 but we will have to wait for that next trip. They have a small, limited salad bar for 3.95. A little pricey for the meager selection. Bathrooms were piney clean. We will be back. Hey, maybe a steak and BBQ combo.....

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2010

Heading home from vacation the first weekend in August we decided to try Lexington, NC barbecue. Did research and decided to stop here (all positive reviews on TripAdvisor). The first place we were going to was closed because they were on vacation. Stopped at Backcountry BBQ around lunch time and was looking forward to some pulled pork bbq. Sat down and the girl brought us our drinks and told us there was no pork bbq, just chicken. We thought she was joking, but she was serious. She said that they had some big party or something on Friday night and did not make anymore for Saturday. I also noticed that a couple of families that came in after us left after they found out they had no pork. So we had the chicken bbq since we drove out of our way to get here. Nonetheless, the chicken, slaw and hush puppies were very good, but we would have liked to try the pulled pork. We'll travel down that way next summer and will give them one more try.

“Highly recommended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2010

One of the very few BBQ restaurants in Lexington open on Sunday, this little place in the country beats most of the local BBQ competition any day of the week. Great food and prices. Weekly specials are appreciated. We go often for the steak dinner for 2. Service ranges from good to so-so.
