We just got back from 3 days at Randall Glen. I was concerned based on the review by Albert C, but he must have stayed at a different resort. We stayed in Newfound. It's off season, so we had the place to ourselves. The cabin was lovely, very new and clean with a porch, swing, rocking chairs, two very comfortable queen size beds and a loft with two twins. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, granite countertops. You get free land line service - I have ATT and was out of cell phone range; the Verizon people had service down by the farm but not in the cabin. The kids enjoyed the hot tub. Everything was clean and well kept, and the staff were very helpful. This is a WORKING FARM - so do not expect a resort. Mary Adore was helpful when she could be, but she also had cows, goats, chickens, lambs and a llama to feed. The kids got to milk the cow, bond with Miss Petunia, a very stand offish but gentle sheep, watch the turkeys show off their feathers and see two baby goats be born! The most marvelous thing though had to be the dogs. There are 5 sweet gentle giant Great Pyrenees, and they take their hosting job very seriously. From the moment we arrived, Spot accompanied us everywhere, on hikes, back and forth to the barn, to the fishing pond. We felt so safe with him along - he even slept on our porch every night. My friend was actually scared of dogs until she met Spot - if only all dogs were so well mannered. There's also Ellie Mae and Sammy who occasionally joined us. If Albert is talking about deformed animals, he may mean the club footed boxer Best. I loved the place all the more for having a few ragtag animals that might have been put to sleep if they hadn't found a home at Randall Glen. The staff built a bonfire for us on the last night, and I felt like I was back at camp, singing songs and making Smores. Do not come here if you need to be catered to and you don't want to get dirty. Do come here if you want to experience a real farm, go on breathtaking hikes, hear birdsong during the day and crickets at night, get to know a wonderful menagerie of animals, and feel a million miles away from noisy cities and shopping malls.
