“Service lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We spent two nights at the Lake Lure Inn in September 2013. We had a standard room that was satisfactory. A bit cramped but it did have a nice view out the front of the hotel. The bathroom was minimal - with a very small shower (no tub). It was fine for us but be aware in case you are of above average size.

Although it did not appear that the hotel was full, my request that our room be cleaned was dismissed with a 'the girls are cleaning and will get to your room;. It was not cleaned for several hours - until 'the girls' had lunch.

We will not be back.

Very enjoyable get away weekend for my wife and I. My wife says her spa experience was fantastic as was my experience at the quaint little bar as I watched a little Saturday afternoon football while she was enjoying her massage. The only thing that could have been better would be if the rocking chairs out front were padded :) Great place to get away for some quiet time and enjoy the scenery.

Room Tip: We were in the Fitzgerald Suite which had a beautifull view out the window.

My daughter got married on Labor Day Weekend at the Lake Lure Inn and we couldn't have been happier with how the entire weekend went. We had many out of town guests coming in for the weekend and the accommodations were delightful, I don't know of anyone who had any problems with their rooms. We had several events at the Inn - the Rehearsal Dinner, a bonfire and the Reception. Rehearsal Dinner was at the Gardens (a very cozy spot and the meal was quite good). The bonfire was at the beach across from the Inn and a great way to get the weekend started. Sunday brunch was delicious and a good start for the wedding party. Then came the wedding and the staff were absolutely amazing as we had to do a last minute change to the indoor venue due to thunderstorms and it was seamless for us. They hustled and set up the indoor ceremony in 30 minutes. Obviously we were set for an outdoor ceremony but we were absolutely delighted and happy with the indoor ceremony at Roosevelt Hall. The reception at the inn was perfect - food was very good, the room looked beautiful and the terrace overlooked the mountains. What a view. The wedding was so fun and the event coordinator, Patrick Bryant, was amazing. He was so organized and had every detail down. We ordered cupcakes from Dana (works at Lake Lure) and they were excellent and very reasonably price. Many of our guests remarked that it was the best wedding they had every been to. We would give this venue the highest marks

My husband and I just had our wedding at the Lake Lure Inn & Spa over Labor Day weekend and it was amazing. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our wedding coordinator, Patrick, did a fantastic job helping us plan the event. Even though it rained, the whole wedding was incredible and all of the guests loved it. I definitely recommend the Lake Lure Inn as a great spot for a destination wedding.

Room Tip: The Swayze Suite where we stayed was beautiful. Lots of room and great views!

I stayed at the Lake Lure Inn overnight to attend a meeting being held here. We got a special conference room rate of $100 per night. The inn has a rustic elegance. There seemed to be plenty of parking, and checkin was friendly and efficient. The lobby boasted numerous antiques including a number of very interesting looking music boxes, and the elevator, while small, worked fine. My room was on the third floor, so except for when I was lugging my suitcase, I used the stairs and enjoyed seeing the antiques and art work in the hallways and on the stair landings. There are mementos of presidents, authors and other famous folk who have stayed there.

My room had a large king size four poster bed and antique furnishings. Space was a little tight in the room because the bed was so large. Everything was clean and elegant, and the bed was comfortable and the linens were of good quality. There was no room for a desk, just a narrow console table. The wifi worked fine. The television is mounted near the ceiling, and the remote control is the kind that can be sanitized for each new guest. There was a large closet with 4 hangers, an ironing board and iron, a luggage rack, and an extra blanket and pillows. The bathroom wasn't large but was clean and functional. There was no tub, only a shower, but the water pressure was fine and the towels were fluffy and absorbant. There was a hairdryer attached to the wall which worked fine, and the toiletries included shampoo/conditioner and soap. There was a coffeemaker in the room, though I didn't use it. The air conditioning worked fine.

The room's window featured a nice view through the trees of the swimming pool and the lake across the street, and a nice mountain view beyond that. There was a small gift shop nest to the front desk, where guests could get a complimentary cup of coffee or buy a snack or soft drink. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. The meeting room was located behind the hotel. Though the chairs weren't particularly comfortable, the room accomodated our group's needs.

The hotel is obviously a popular wedding venue, and fans of "Dirty Dancing" will enjoy seeing where some scenes were filmed. Though there is a small fee for access to the "beach" across the street from the inn, they offer a water park which should appeal to children. There is also a very nice walking path around the lake. Overall it was a perfectly satisfactory venue for our meeting and I had a nice stay here.

My husband and I got married here and had the most incredible time! All of our guests felt the same way. What a magical spot nestled right in the mountains, it is almost unreal! The hotel is cute and quaint and the service is great. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and so helpful. Paula was out wedding coordinator and she always went above and beyond to give us the time of our lives! ;) We are so grateful and look forward to returning, we know our guests will be doing the same!

We traveled to Lake Lure for a wedding event. We extended our stay for the holiday weekend to tour the Lake Lure area. This was our first time in this area outside of Asheville, NC. We stayed in the Beachside lodge of the Inn. The room was in in somewhat satisfactory condition. Needs some updating or remodeling of the entire room and bathroom. I must say,the house keeping staff were the most pleasant people and took very good care of us. While there, we experienced a heavy rain storm which severly flooded out the area in front of our door leading to the outside. Maintenance was slow to show up and not equipped to solve our flooding problem right away. We were late for our wedding event and had to deal with wet carpet in the room as well as not having great options for resolution of this problem. The staff in reservations offered another room that was not condusive to our family of 4. When we stressed our dissatisfaction of the offer, there wasn't other options provided. It wasn't until we checked out and expressed our dissatisfaction again, we were offered one night free of charge. This was "ok", but still left a bad feeling and we will think twice before staying at Lake Lure Inn & Spa for any occasions in the future.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before agreeing to stay there.
