Been to Lake Lure many times and opted to stay a night at the Historic Hotel for a night. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon....The doorman was quite charming and friendly but disappeared after brunch was served. Then the hotel wend blindly cold and unresponsive. No dinner offerings that night and the bar was also closed. Was looking forward to having a nice ice cream and coffee but not to be had. The rate was very highly priced for a Sunday night considering the parking lot was empty. The room was ok sizewize considering it was built eons ago but noticed the chairs were stained and it just felt a little unkept. I have stayed at historic hotels before and this one does not meet their caliber. Surely not like it was proclamed to be on construction in 1929. Overall I expected more from a privately owned historic hotel.
