“Best Pork Chops EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Freddie's is must if you're in the area of Carolina Beach or Kure Beach, NC. And even if you're in Wilmington and you don't mind the 1/2 hour drive for an excellent pork chop, it is worth the drive! Atmosphere is intimate, but not to the extent that you can't bring the kids along. Wait staff is attentive, courteous, and personable. Food is excellent! The two pork chop servings are enough to share, or have for leftovers. Not sure many could eat the two chop plate at one sitting! Wine list is very good. There is a small bar area. Great place for locals and where visitors feel welcome too!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

As a local, I have dined at Freddie's several times. Last night was the worst. The garlic overwhelmed the dishes with a sauce. My pork chop was not done. This had always been our favorite, but will never return.

“Excellent Italian Food in Cozy Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who told my husband that this place was worth the trip and that he "had to order" the pork chop.

We were there in the winter and the place was still fairly full. The restaurant is very very small. We can't imagine what the wait is like in the summer, although since our visit we were told that the wait is sometimes "hours" long in season.

My husband did order the "Freddie's Special Pork Chop" which is a flame grilled chop, topped with cherry peppers and finished with our secret balsamic sauce. It thought it was very tasty although there were some gristly parts. He really enjoyed the chunky applesauce that accompanied it. I ordered Chicken Piccata. This dish is Chicken and capers sauteed in a lemon, white wine and butter sauce. It was a huge portion of chicken served on your choice of pasta. It was much too much for me to finish.

In February they have a "Customer Appreciation" special where you get 5% off our your entire order. We did have to remind our server since it was not taken off the first time he brought the bill.

I ordered Tiramisu for dessert. It was good, but a bit "drier" than I prefer. I don't like soggy tiramisu, but this was heavy on the ladyfingers and light on the marscapone filling.

“More food than one person can eat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

What a wonderful little Italian establishment. Great atmosphere. We ordered chicken Alfredo, Freddie's spaghetti and Barb's spaghetti. Each dish was enough to feed two people. It was really good. We enjoyed eating there and would go back again.

“Great family run Italian Restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

If you like a smaller but yet the great feel of a family run restaurant this is the place for you. Great food, service and atmosphere! A good wine and beer selection; everyone can find something they enjoy. Food wise they have a great selection of old school Italian dishes, the mushroom ravioli is great. The house specialty is the great selection of Pork Chops; my two favorites are the Garlic chop or if you like something a little sweet the apple walnut chop is the best!
