“No charge to stroll on the pier”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

We were pleasantly surprised to be able to take a walk out on the pier and enjoy the view. Added bonus was to be able to enjoy the pelicans that landed on the railing.

“The Way We Were”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012

One of the best reasons to live and visit southeastern North Carolina is a tiny little hamlet at just about the end of the road on US 421, called Kure Beach. There are still no parking meters, one traffic signal, unbelievable Civil War presence, including the free CW museum state maintained aquarium, Battle Acre, "The Rocks" and the pier. At the Kure Beach Pier they have an assortment of hand dipped ice cream that one can take outside and sit on the deck, walk the planks to where the fishermen take their positions on the rails that most have "dibs" on but will slip down and make room, as "everyone on the pier are brothers". And they don't even charge to walk on the pier like other piers in the area. The employees on the pier are mostly town youth, given the chance to work by the owner who also grew up on this pier. You will find answers to any questions about the area and it's offerings from Ron and others who will set you up with a great deal on a rod, reel, lures or the "local" bait available right in the pierhouse. Truly a jewel in this part of the state and a sure bet to satisfy anyones need to fish, walk, eat or just unwind for a spell.......

“Windy but a fun, free pier”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012

The best part of Kure Beach Pier is the shop you must go thru to get on the Pier and the fact it is free to walk the Pier. Watching the fishmen at work is great and the seaguls and other birds are there to enjoy the Pier with you. The shop has all kinds of random stuff to browse, along with pool tables and games.
