“Kure Beach Diner is NOT the old pier house”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

Kure Beach Diner gets lucky with their rating as they took over a great old place, The Old Pier House. That restaurant is under new ownership now called The Kure Beach Diner. THIS PLACE IS A HORRID EXCUSE FOR A RESTAURANT! The owners Frankie and George Turner are unethical immoral disgusting human beings. The woman, Frankie is the owner and sorry excuse for one at that. She sits in the back booth with a glare on her face and her fingers scrolling on her iPhone. The man, a redneck with a gut and a trucker hat has an ego through the roof about his precious pancakes and burgers that one could make in their hotel room or pick up at cookout. The FLOOR IS GROSS. Carpet with crumbs and paper and food stains all over. All in all these owners have ruined a great place AND ALSO raised all the prices as high as 1.95 for ONE egg and 4.00 for a can of CAMPBELL'S CLAM CHOWDER. THATS RIGHT, Campbell's, just like the can you heat up in the microwave from food lion. DO NOT DINE HERE. FRANKIE AND GEORGE TURNER HAS RUINED THE OLF PIER HOUSE UNDER THE NAME KURE BEACH DINER

“Okay for breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

Prices have gone up a bit since new management. Staff very friendly and "down home". Had to chuckle at one reviewer who mentioned the pancakes "were very flat". Well, they ARE pancakes.

Had breakfast here last week after walking the boardwalk and pier. Scrambled eggs and pancakes were delicious. And flat, but thick!

Coffee has always been a bit weak for my taste, so I don't order it there. Great little spot. It does good diner food. I've always been made to feel welcome there.

“Hometown diner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

We stopped here while visiting the area. The place was very clean and you felt like you were eating in someone's dining room. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The hush puppies and sweet tea were exactly what you would expect from a southern spot. Very good!

“Decent breakfast spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

We were staying in Kure Beach, and went over toe the Kure Beach diner for breakfast - the wait staff was friendly, and the choices were good, but the pancakes were very flat, and the food overall was nothing special.

“Prices are up, portions down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

We have always enjoyed this place for lunch or a quick dinner. Their new menu has brought with it higher prices and fewer side options. Hushpuppies are free and good. Portions of entrees were small and they piled on the fries to make up for it. $85 for a family of 4 for hamburg steak and fried seafood was a bit much. For a small diner atmosphere, I expect more reasonable prices. We paid only a little more at Freddies the next night and had wine and food leftover.
