“Nice place, good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Booked this hotel for a last minute 4th of July getaway. It was nearly full & the only way we could get a room for 4 nights was to split it between 2 different rooms. The staff was very helpful making the arrangements.
Hotel was decent, rooms were clean & had the usual furnishings. It is located on the beach, with direct access, which is what we came for. The pools (2, one indoor + indoor hot tub) were heated & nice & were a big hit with grandkids. Our only complaint was breakfast. Not the food, but so crowded we couldn't get near it or even get a cup of coffee. We understand it was a holiday weekend & the place was packed, but if you're going to offer breakfast, you should be able to accommodate ALL of the guests. Otherwise decent hotel for a decent price.

Convenient location, great price for a resort area hotel. Adequate continental breakfast available if you want it, and you should have it once for the decor of the breakfast area alone, but several great restaurants which serve breakfast are nearby if you prefer.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room in the tower for the best ocean view.

I was holding a family birthday celebration and contacted Shutters to reserve a bank of rooms for the weekend. Ms. Ottavio could not have been more accommodating, providing the tower 3rd floor oceanfront rooms, since the 4th floor was under renovation. Each family member reported having a very comfortable bed and room. As a family we were able to use the breakfast room for our "picnic" dinner on Friday night, and it was also very comfortable as well. Sandy took excellent care of all the family members making their reservations, even down to a providing an extra room for unexpected members coming in from Europe at the last minute. It was a delight working with the owner and staff at this hotel!

We wanted a winter get away to relax and we found this at Shutters on the Banks this past weekend. We stayed in a room on the 4th floor and listened to the ocean at night. The room was really nice and clean, our daughter was excited about the Bath and Body Works soap, shampoo and lotion, it was one of her favorites. The indoor pool and hottub was a great treat after our day trips around the outerbanks. The easy access to the beach was a highlight for me. The breaksfast had some nice selections. Thanks for a great weekend. We will recommend this place to our OBX friends and we plan to come back.

Room Tip: If you like to hear the ocean and a view of the ocean stay in the Tower rooms 4th floor.

We stayed in a second floor ocean side room. The room was clean, the hotel was quiet (not many people were around in mid November), the staff was pleasant and friendly. We had what we needed, we were close to the beach and within walking distance to the Outer Banks Brewing Station! Overall, we had a nice stay. Thanks!

We didn't have a single complaint about our pleasant stay here, and would return.

Our reservation was handled without any problems by the helpful, courteous staff, and we arrived to park easily nearby a clean, comfortable room on the 3rd floor of the tower. The view from the deck was very nice. The beds were comfortable, and though the tub area of the bathroom was a little tight, everything was clean and worked fine. We were provided plenty of supplies. We didn't use the pool, but did visit, and we would have used it if so inclined. The breakfast was nice in the morning, and I checked out by phone without any issues.

Room Tip: We were able to see the water from our 3rd floor room; I don't know if we could have below that.

We enjoyed our stay at the beach and this hotel was a nice clean, cozy and affordable locations. The beach is located right over the dune and it has a nice wakway to it. The beach is a clean but narrow beach with typical rough surf which is the outer banks
