Thank you for your review about your recent stay with us. I am sorry you had an issue with someone smoking in a non-smoking room near you. We do not permit any smoking inside the main building. We do have a couple of smoking rooms which are located on the outside wing. These are located at the very end of the outside wing so that no smoke should filter to any of the other rooms on the property. Apparently someone did not follow our non-smoking policy and we are very sorry. We do try to enforce this policy. I can assure you when we are made aware that someone is breaking these rules we do take care of the situation immediately. It is always our goal to provide the service and accommodations each and every guest expects and deserves while staying with us. I apologize for another guest being inconsiderate during your stay.

I am not sure about the issue with a late check out on the day of the marathon. We did allow every guest who was running the race and requested a late check out to check out at 1 pm instead of 11 am. I am not sure about the situation regarding your request, but I can assure you we did allow everyone that made the request up until check out time the day of the race to check out later than the normal 11am check out time. We do this every year for the marathon runners.

I am very sorry about the shells your dog found under the bed. I understand completely about this being dangerous for pets. As I told you when we discussed this the morning you brought it to my attention almost every bed in the hotel is enclosed and nothing can get under most of the beds. This was an exception and I addressed it with the cleaning staff. I am sorry I did not know that your dog had gotten sick. If you had to take him or her to the vet that night I would like to know. I assure you we take great care when preparing our rooms for each new guest and we would never intentionally skip something as important as that. It must have been far enough under the bed that she did not see it and the vacuum would not reach. My cleaning staff is very well trained and they take great pride in the job they do.

I am sorry your dog got into the sand spurs on the adjacent property. We keep our property maintained but can not control the property owned by our neighbors. Sand spurs are all over the Outer Banks and can be very painful. I will mention this to the board and see if we can get the owners of the adjacent property to allow us to post a sign there. This is the first time we have had anyone have an issue that we were made aware of with the spurs while staying here. They are very painful and we certainly do not want anyone including pets getting them in their feet/paws. Thank you for bringing that to our attention.

Thank you for the nice review. I am happy that you enjoyed your stay with us even though the weather was less than sunny. The view from the ocean view rooms during the storm was outstanding.
