Love this place! The bistro has awesome food at a fair price. It's well lit and friendly staff. the location is right on the beach and the views are great. My kids love the indoor heated pool,it is perfect for bad weather days. This resort is close to food lion, target, duck donuts, wright bro museum and the dunes

We had just one night to stay in a hotel on the outer banks and decided to choose an ocean view room. It was worth it; nothing to block our view of the spectacular waves resulting from two days of wind. The room was lovely and clean, with a kitchenette in a nook, a couch, table and two chairs, and two chairs on the balcony. Comfy for a longer stay. The attached bistro has delicious food. We received a discount coupon on check in.

DO NOT waste your money! This room was $330/night. Now I know why it’s non refundable. Dirty rooms, rude staff, no house keeping, dirty bathrooms, door lock was broken, possible blood stain in carpet, stained furniture. Stay at the days inn, a fraction of the cost and probably better quality. I should call the police and file a robbery report. Charging this much for this place is robbery. I’ve stayed at holiday inn express for $75/night with breakfast included, and that blows this out of the water. Stay anywhere else but here.

The view was fantastic with a walk out balcony. Other pluses were that we could cook our meals, we had a full size fridge, a small but serviceable washer/dryer, and a serviceable living dining room, full dish/pots set, dishwasher, coffee maker and silver wear. The minuses are the room 221's location. The area used to rinse off your feet was right outside the balcony. People looked in constantly. Not that we did anything but.... . The other bad thing was was the room is right next to the machinery area which causes a loud roaring sound at regular intervals all afternoon and an annoying hum anytime the elevator runs. Not a problem if you are out enjoying all the OBX things to do but if you are rained in, your day is ruined. The property could use better maintenance as the room's carpet needed cleaning. Beach sand is everywhere and all the mats needed cleaning. But bedding and towels were clean and everything you needed to keep clean was provided. Sea Ranch gets a four for it's pluses and can't get a five for renting a room with absurd noise problems.

We have always liked the location of the Sea Ranch Resort....However.....the experience dwindles on each trip. First order of business they have ZERO room service. If you need clean towels or wash cloths you go to the front desk and ask for some. Room service for food or beverages is non existent. One ice machine working, inside the lobby and down the hall, from the suites and ocean front rooms, not even in the same building. With a little touch of customer service the Sea Ranch could be so much better.

Stayed in 2 queen Ocean side room. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms/hotel were clean but could definitely use an upgrade. It was nice to have the ocean view. Pool was average, it could use an upgrade as well. Hotel restaurant was good. Overall it was average. Not sure it is worth the price.

I will start this off by saying I will never again trust a TripAdvisor rating, award, or rating. I don't know if I stayed in a completely different place than the higher ratings but our room was absolutely terrible. The entire facility was disgusting. First, the price paid for the lack of amenities and quality of room is a terrible value. The only good thing about the room was the beach view, however, this was spoiled by the constant smoking of neighbors on their porches that made it impossible to sit outside or even have the back door open. The room was unacceptably filthy. The carpet was sticky and lumpy, like there was a cat someone left behind and Sea Ranch just tried to hid it under the carpet. The room itself looked like it had not been cleaned in years: tons of dust and crud build up, rusty bathroom faucets and drain, dirty hard surfaces. I took a wetwipe and swiped it on the floor and it came up nearly black. The shower curtain looks like it has not been changed since it was installed. We had a toddler with us but we were just unable to let them play anywhere in the room because of the uncleanliness of it. Seriously it was really bad. Every corner and edge was just brown and caked with dirt. Toiletpaper holder was just visible pile of dust like a post apocalyptic movie. Fuze box next to bed that looked like it had, at some point, been an access portal to a dimension of the underworld. Next to the bed, along the headboard; all completely covered in visible cotton-like dust and... essence of skin. Every time the AC kicked on, or the door opened, the ceiling tiles would pop up and slam down, making a massive loud noise like people were were trapped above us, unable to leave this hotel california. The porch door lock was broken and wouldn't lock which left us feeling really uneasy about leaving the room, and for preventing toddler from opening the door. The plugs were loose for our power, so we had to maneuver our power cables just right to let things charge. Outside of the room, is the facility in general. Some other review described it best: there's a rot smell from all of the smoking. There are smoking bins next to the elevators so it smells so, so awful trying to access the elevator and through the stairwell. It was so bad that I would run down the stairs as fast as possible with my kid to get out of it as fast as possible. I can't overstate just how unpleasant the smoking situation was throughout the entire facility. Almost felt entirely trapped when in the room. We originally chose this place because it had an indoor pool and we expected rain. When we arrived, there was a sign on the pool that said it was out of order. No notification, no note on the website, no call to mention it before we arrived. Nothing. We paid the premium for this hotel and couldn't even access the basic feature we planned for. This one especially stung because it was supposed to be our main source of lounging and entertainment for our kid during the storms and Sea Ranch still listed it on their booking site as a feature. This alone should have qualified for a partial refund. Finally, on our last day, we decided to go down to the beach and there was a wedding set up. We did our beach stuff and on our return back to the hotel at the water station to shower the sand off, it was all disconnected. The hotel staff turned off the shower so they could clean the ramp and keep it "presentable" for the wedding. We had to pack all our gear up and walk through to the other side of the hotel and use the hose (instead of the two-headed shower for feet) which had a number of people essentially waiting in line to use. Again, not even a note of what to expect was going to happen. In the end, I will never trust TripAdvisor and I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. There are way better options for less (we paid about 300/night) money. I have pictures of the filth of this place that I wouldn't even see in a roadside motel.

Are my standards just too high? The word “Resort” implies something more than a Motel 6 style property. The entrance to the property is dirty—floors, carpet, concrete, everything. The stairs and elevator are grimy and dark. All the public areas need power washing and lighting. The elevator is painfully slow. Carpet in our room was stained and sticky. The bathroom was so dark I did makeup in the sleeping area. The balcony hasn’t been washed off in months. One of the glass panels in the balcony door wall has lost its seal and is virtually opaque. The smell beside the main elevator is disgusting with the smoker stand emitting a heavy smoke and rot odor. The property has an overall odor of garbage that’s been left in the sun. The view was fabulous from the fifth floor. That salvaged the three nights day. Otherwise, we would’ve had a really difficult time spending that much time and money in this place. As it is, we feel like we’ve paid way more than it’s worth. The staff was friendly, the bed comfortable, A/C worked well and the location is excellent. Beyond that, I don’t have a lot of good comments to make. Comments from other visitors suggest that this is a totally different place from the one I saw this week. I used to trust reviews on TripAdvisor and now I’m questioning some of these. Many of them sound like they were paid to post. Disappointing. This place needs a lot more money AND cleaning & maintenance efforts spent on it to bring it up to a level that someone could consider a “resort!”

The first thing you see when entering if the disgusting mat at the front door. Check in was clearly a bother to the person working who was clearly annoyed with the 2 questions I had. The walls of our room were dirty, the carpet and couch were stained and the room smelled like mold. the fan in the room was loud and never turned off even when we turned the thermostat off. I kept my shoes on for our stay and felt like I had no where clean to sit. We ended up going home a day early. Other than being near the beach, I would not recommend emu thing about this hotel.

We stayed here for 6 nights in a King suite. The views are amazing, a large balcony overlooking the ocean. We were on the 5th floor. The hotel is older, but very well maintained and upgraded. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and the suite was very large. Maintenance staff was very friendly and polite. Access to the ocean is much easier than many other places we have stayed, especially for an older couple with replacement knees. We never ate in the on site restaurant because there are many, many places to eat nearby. Elevator is a bit slow. Would definitely stay here again and will tell all our friends about this place.
