“A delicious change of pace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

We have lived on the Outer Banks for 10 years. Colington Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants. We live with and frequent the beach themed places on a day to day basis but for special events this is the place. The food is consistently excellent and the service is superb. The she crab soup must be tasted and the crabcakes are better that those we ate in Baltimore. All in all, this is a great place for a familly celebration.

“So good it’s almost scary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2011

I hesitate to write a review on this place because it’s so good, that the more people that know about it, the harder it is to get a reservation. We have been coming down to the Outer Banks since the early 90”s and there is no place that comes close to the Collington Café. The food is outstanding. The service we had tonight, you couldn’t get any better.
The prices are reasonable. I had the crab cakes and they were delicious. They were all crab meat not a crab cake with filler but a crab cake will real crab. I know that some of the reviews said that the service is slow but we got there early and the service was great. The place gets extremely busy and that’s when you have a little bit of a wait. This is the first time in four year years we been back here and it’s still outstanding.

“Slow service, ok food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2011

Ok, first off, the service was really slow. The staff could not have been nicer, but they often weren't there, they would come by and say things were backed up, and things might take a bit longer, they even offered us a complimentary appetizer. Still we waited nearly 30 minutes for our order to be taken and another 15-20 for our wine. I was happy to at least be told things were on their way.

The food was fine. None of us had any complaints about the quality of the food. The She Crab soup was full of crab, but was more like Lobster Bisque than thhe other she crab soups available locally. I thout the Caesar Salad was just average. My sister really like her coconuts shrimp, I thought my mixed grill was fine, the steak was very nice. I really liked the cobbler.

Wine list was surprisingly reasonable.

“Wonderful place to conclude our OBX visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

The atmosphere, the food, the presentation - all wonderful. The service was attentive and very courteous. It was expensive, so it is perhaps more a place to celebrate something - and we were.

Although content with the meal (shrimp scampi, she crab bisque) the dessert tray proved too tempting - so the toll house pie was the ending to a delicious meal.

“Best meal in a long time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2011

The Collington Cafe provided a wonderfully prepared meal consisting of great fish (tuna), and an interesting veggie assortment. Wait staff (Cindy) was professional, friendly, polite and well versed with the menu. The cottage is a darling 'home' nestled in a tranquil setting with attention to detail evident both inside and out. I definitely recommend this fine place and I will return on future OBX trips to this area.
