“Great vacation place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

Have always enjoyed our stays here! Cannot beat the view of the ocean! Would like to see a few upgrades to the efficiencies, very few utensils and the stove eyes were unlevel due to so much aluminum foil on them. Will still continue to stay here, staff is always cordial & helpful!

We spent a long weekend in pet-friendly efficiency #40. The room was big, with tile floors that are perfect when traveling with a dog. The best feature of this room is the private porch overlooking the swimming pool. The ocean access is amazing.

The property is cute; old, but well maintained. But we did have a couple of complaints. The stove in our unit had a couple of burners out. During our 4-day stay, housekeeping never once supplied us with toilet paper - I had to go to the office and ask. There is a wi-fi signal, but it's very weak.

I would definitely go back and recommend the Outer Banks Motor Lodge to anyone who wants a great value at the beach.

By all means, DO IT!!! Stay at this property whenever you visit the Outer Banks, especially if you prefer the motor lodge experience as opposed to the hotel chain groove. Over the past 20+ years, my wife and I have stayed at a property near MP 10 on the Beach Road, but they closed at the beginning of the year. The OBXML is our new spot to stay! By far, the best beach access we've found.

Room Tip: Pick either the beach front rooms or room 35. You'll understand....

Just returned from our third weeklong stay at OBX Motor Lodge. This is not a shiny new property, but rather vintage Outer Banks charm. The ground floor rooms walk out onto the beach, very few properties in all of the Outer Banks have such an unobstructed view and easy beach access. The staff is always cordial and accommodating. The clientele is always exceptional, each year we meet great people who enjoy the "beach atmosphere"
We'll be back.

I have stayed at this hotel since I was a young child - and there is nowhere else I would rather stay. Yes, the rooms are outdated and need some work...... However, we are out on the porch or down at the beach from before sunrise until after sunset. The beach is just right there! Our last visit was during Hurricane Arthur's visit as well. The staff kept us up to date, provided flashlights and emergency numbers, and just made us feel comfortable. I am not looking for high class Hilton.....I am looking for a great place to sit and visit with my extended family and friends. This has been it for over 40 years now!

This is our home away from home when we make our annual trip tot he Outer Banks. The staff is very nice, the service is great, the value is right on ! They do allow pets but PLEASE VISITORS do not take your pet on vacation with you unless you ca keep them quiet in the evening and at night. This was not a problem this year but has been in the past. Kudos to our neighbors during our stay for keeping their pets 'neighborly'. We had a great stay. A lot of annemities - laundry room, ice machine, in room stove + fridge + utensils + pots + pans. Excellent for a family that wants to do their our cooking ! Excellent value !

We spent 3 wonderful days at this hotel last week, and it was one of the BEST vacations I have ever had.

First off, I would like to contradict the lady that wrote the only "Terrible" review for this hotel: us too traveled with 2 dogs, 1 medium and 1 small. We notified the hotel upon booking that we will be traveling with dogs (common sense), and they offered us accommodation in one of their 4 pet-friendly rooms, which are located behind the reception area. Pets are not permitted in any other rooms, including the ocean-front ones. The hotel is pet-friendly, and we felt very welcome.

The rooms are very large, and the kitchenette area was amazing - we saved a lot of money by bringing our own food. We had a fridge, stove, coffee maker, microwave and toaster available, in addition to cutlery, dishes, pots and pans, and even dishwasher soap ! Bathroom was clean and roomy as well.

The motel is incredibly close to the beach, which was wonderful. In addition to super great location, the motel offered a pool, a laundry room, icebox machine, vending machine, and grills.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. Great value, excellent location, I would go back today !

Room Tip: Notify the hotel if you are traveling with pets, so that they may accommodate you in pet-friendly ro...
