“Wonderful get-away place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

I depend on Trip Advisor reviews when I travel and this was no exception. We decided on a last-minute getaway to the Outer Banks and found this wonderful boutique hotel with lots of praise from fellow travelers and it had 2 vacancies. We are very satisfied with our choice. This inn was very clean and quiet. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They provided wonderful informative answers to any questions. And the continental breakfast was more than adequate, with cereals, fruit, a wide variety of pastries and breads, and beverages. I especially appreciated the availability of bottled water and when the bottled water was gone the staff quickly replenished it. The reviewer who complained about the room sizes (he exaggerated the smallness of the size of the rooms) should stay in a $500/night hotel. The decor is dated and the bathrooms could be updated but , for the cost, this was a great find. Our room was very, very quiet and its location is terrific. We'll return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was in the middle of the second floor (there are only three floors) and it was extremely qu...

I sincerely appreciate the feedback. I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. We have made some changes to the bathrooms including new granite sinks however more improvements should be in the making for this off season. We certainly hope you are able to return soon.

First, service and hospitality was fantastic. Rooms are small and the bed was very firm for both our tastes. Had an item in the room break and it was quickly fixed. Rooms and furniture are dated, but recently updated paint. Carpet was OK. Breakfast was spartan, but adequate. Nice shuttle to beaches and decent deck and pool area out front by the highway. It's our first trip to the Outer Banks, so nothing else to compare it to. If you are a frequent traveler it falls between a Super 8 and a Hampton Inn.

We added a couple of days to our beach cottage vacation by staying here. No real complaints -- it was completely clean, nice clean pool, with beds that at first seemed firm but were comfortable, good a/c. We noticed they have a nice beach shuttle but didn't use it. We were on the top floor by the exit door, which meant hearing people coming and going, but we didn't mind. My only real suggestion: please get better coffee cups with insulators and maybe add a larger space for the coffee area, even if you have to charge us more. We couldn't get the lids on the cups most days without tearing them, and the cups were very hot to the touch. Morning coffee is an important element to any vacation! But anyway, great stay, very nice staff.

Room Tip: If possible avoid a room next to an exit door. Also, we didn't see an elevator though there may...

I couldn't agree more as I love my morning coffee. I am currently working with Sysco to improve our coffee cups/lids. I appreciate the kind words and hope you return soon. When you do I will have improved coffee cups/lids waiting for you.

Pros:
Staffs are very friendly: they are really really great. My wife wanted an iron board before 8:30 am and they provided. They even offered a ride to the nearby beach.

Cons: Rooms are very very small. I stayed in a king bed room and the size of it was about 10 ft * 10 ft. Literally there was no place to move an inch.
The breakfast : it's really bad. The breakfast area is a 8ft * 8ft area which serves as reception area too. There are some breads, muffins, cereals, juice and oh yes some leather like packed microwaveable something(bacon/bread may be?). Folks, seriously, you should stop serving breakfast or improve it. How many bucks would it cost to add some eggs sausage bacon etc?

I sincerely appreciate your honest feedback. I am happy to hear the staff took care of you and your wife. We are a smaller boutique style property. The majority of our rooms are 19 ft x 13 ft and the lobby is 18 ft x 18 ft. We also now have a virtual tour on our website for reference. I do apologize that you felt cramped in your room. I apologize you did not enjoy breakfast but I wanted to clarify that the health department will not allow us to serve a "hot" breakfast due to the fact we do not have kitchen. We try to order products that we can that are filling and enjoyable. I will certainly discuss this with the staff and see what we can come up with. I hope you are able to return soon.

A short walk to the beach, a great staff willing to help at all times helped to make this a great few days. The Inn met the needs of our group (11 people) with smiles and great service. Close to a varied choice of restaurants, you cannot ask for anything else staying at the Outer Banks Inn. The front desk staff did a great job offering different restaurant choices according to our tastes. For those who would rather ride to the beach, the Inn offers a shuttle back and forth to the beach. The pool offered a change of pace for the kids as they returned from the beach, getting up the next day for go-carting and miniature golf. Thank you for a great getaway vacation!!

We decided to have a long weekend at Kill Devil Hills and I was afraid of not being able to find a hotel and if we did it would be out of our price range or a very scary place to stay. I was wrong. This proved to be a great basic hotel with clean beds and baths, friendly, accommodating service and just a short walk to the beach or you can take the shuttle. The price was great and we had a wonderful stay. We could not have asked for a better place to stay.

Room Tip: When booking a room try to avoid a room near the outer doors. The doors opening and closing are very...

I will certainly have maintenance take a look at the doors as they should not be disturbing to anyone. For that I do apologize. I sincerely appreciate the kind words and do hope to see you again soon.

This Inn was the perfect location for our long weekend, while attending a wedding nearby. A convenient block and a half walk to the beach (the hotel will shuttle you to the beach, if you desire). The hotel has an outdoor shower to wash off beach sand. A pool is available, as well. The Inn's staff are professional, helpful and courteous. Our room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. We appreciated the refrigerator to keep drinks cool. Thank you for a nice stay.
