“Tiny, tiny room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2008

Room was very tiny. Felt like I suffered from claustrophobia. It was so uncomfortable we left a a day early. Of course, what I had paid was non refundable. Check the fine print before you book! Considering the holiday weekend price of almost $150, I did not feel this was fair. Other rooms has access to a balcony, with adirondack chairs, but ours did not. That would have helped. Bathrooms were nicely remodeled, however the pedestal sink is not a good idea, since there is no place to put anything. Did love the lack of bathtub, replaced with an oversized shower. That was nice. Room was reasonably clean and so was the overall hotel. Location was excellent. It was a disappointing vacation.

We stayed here while attending a wedding in the Outer Banks. Since we were only at the hotel for breakfasts and short breaks during the day, we weren't in the room that often. Our room faced the beach on the second floor and the convenience to the ocean can't be beat.
The room seemed a little tiny for the four of us (we have two preschoolers) and would be better suited to a couple or people who are only sleeping there. The bathroom is a little tiny too. Getting ready for a wedding was a little interesting!
Breakfast was convenient and always well stocked. The woman attending the room was very nice and helpful.
We didn't have a chance to try the pool but a little boy informed us of its warmth and convenience.
All in all, the price for an ocean front hotel can't be beat and its location is close to restaurants and drugstores and the Kmart. Of course, we needed those last minute things just like everyone else!

Thank you for your very nice review of our property. We have hosted many wedding guests this past few monts. Sorry you weren't able to use the pool during your stay but I'm sure you had fun attending the wedding.

Hopefully you can return another time to take a dip in the pool or play in the sand with your kiddies! We have some larger suites with 2 double beds and full kitchens which are twice the size of the room you were in (those were the ones on the south side of the building), and often times families like to stay in those if coming to the beach. Plus you can fix lunch and such and (after sufficiently rested of course) then hop back on over to the pool (or the beach).

If you are able to visit with us again, please feel free to contact me directly for reservations or help!
Thank you--Tonia Cohen, Dir of Sales

This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is great and the rooms are fine (including a kitchen). Although a berm blocks the view from the downstairs back rooms, it's 30 seconds to the water. How great is THAT?

Too bad there aren't a couple of pet-freindly rooms set aside. Would love to go down in off-season with the hound. Sitting in the rich-looking lobby in front of the great fireplace reading a book with a snifter of brandy... Could it get any better?

Glad you had a great time while visiting with us on the Outer Banks! Glad you enjoyed your guest room while visiting---a few of our rooms do have full kitchens though all of our rooms have a microwave/refrig and coffeemaker.

The dunefront rooms on the 1st floor are great as they have the Adirondack chairs to sit in to enjoy your duneview (and they have a king bed which a lot of returning guests enjoy).

We love the fireplace too in the cooler time periods, and we do get a lot of people sitting in front of it with books in the cooler months. Now the warm weather is here, the front porch is where it's at because people like rocking in the rocking chairs and enjoying the Outer Banks weather!

If you should get to visit again, please call us (or me) directly--we would love to help arrange for another lovely stay at our property!

I had an excellent stay here with my family! Had no issues, rooms and all were great. Short walk to the beach which was nice. They have an outdoor heated pool, but it was not open yet. They have year round free passes to YMCA. We loved the Y, very nice facility. Appears to be even nicer in season. We look forward to visiting in the future...

Thank you for visiting with us while on the Outer Banks! I do want to make 1 correction to the review--we do not have a heated outdoor pool, our pool is not heated--though guests are more than welcome to use the Y passes as you did to use their indoor pool during stays. The outdoor pool (because it is not heated) is not quite open but will be opening up shortly.

Thank you for taking the time to write this nice review of our property and we hope to see you on the beach soon, it looks like you aren't too far away in Eastern NC. If you do pass our way again please feel free to call me directly to make reservations (our new breakfast room will hopefully be open this week)!

Thank you,

My family and I have stayed with you twice now. We love it. We were there last week the 25th - 27th of Mar. Spring break. The only negitive thing was the lady at the front desk when we checked in was not friendly at all. On the verge of being rude. Other than that our stay was wonderful. The lady who stocked the food for the breakfast in the mornings was the most friendly person ever. She made a point to speak to everyone and was truly interested in what the guests had to say. A big plus for your hotel. Our room was very clean and cozy. Everything we needed. we will continue our new tradition and see you again next year.

We're so pleased that you decided to return to visit with us again so soon! You were a wee bit early for the opening of our new breakfast room hopefully this week, but the next time you return it should be wide open.

Your review's title is something we love to see at our property! Joan was probably working as our breakfast hostess, she loves to talk to everyone--she is perfect at the job she does, very outgoing and friendly. I am however disappointed at your treatment upon check in, and I will print out your review so that our front desk staff may see it. I am glad that the rest of the trip went well however.

And if you wish please feel free to contact me directly if you wish to make reservations the next time you come to the beach!

Thank you--Tonia Cohen, Dir of Sales

A Great Spring Break destination. The room was clean and the staff were helpful. An ocean front property with easy access and a view of the beach. Traveled with three children and found activities for all ages close. Would return and consider this destination and hotel for spring break next year. Great rates!!!

Glad that you had fun with the kids while visiting with us on the Outer Banks! Guests can receive great deals in the spring, especially booking on our hotel's website or by calling us directly (and of course the nice weather didn't hurt either that week/weekend of Easter). Feel free to contact me if you should pass our way again, I would be glad to help make your reservation for our property--Tonia Cohen.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights Easter weekend. Our room was small, but we had enough space. Had a refrigerator (worked well) and microwave (didn't use). There was a pedestal sink in the bathroom and no place to put our toiletries, which was a pain. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was your standard continental breakfast. Our room was right by the lobby, so we were not only woken up in the morning by people going to breakfast, but also by the construction going on in the lobby (it would have been nice if they told us about the construction beforehand). I would recommend this hotel, but would suggest a room not near the lobby or where the construction is.

  • Liked — Good price, friendly staff
  • Disliked — Construction noise

We appreciate the time that you took to write a review of our property, we always welcome all comments. I'm sorry that the construction noise was an issue during your stay, we are in the midst of renovating our new breakfast room and we do try to limit the workers from doing any work that involves a lot of noise til later in the morning. Normally our guests in our rooms do not have an issue with noise from the temporary breakfast area, but the weekend you were here we did have a bus group in the hotel and that probably created a little more noise than normal during the breakfast hours (as they had breakfast with us then boarded the bus---and there was overflow from the group in the lobby during the breakfast time period). I'm sorry if it caused you an incovenience during your stay. If you are able to return, please come by for another try at our property--the renovations should be done very shortly and I am sure you will have a pleasant stay. Feel free to contact me directly for reservations: Tonia Cohen.
