I enjoyed watching the birds but I didn't like the location of the birds because it was deep in the woods and I didn't wear the proper shoes. Make sure you dress appropriately because it is in the woods.
The Carolina Raptor Center was a wonderful place to spend a few hours and be in the outdoors with a bunch of raptors. The birds were beautiful and the information at each bird cage was so great reading. Each bird had a name and a story to tell. Loved it. There was places for the kids to play & learn if they happened to get a little bored. I would really recommend that anyone who has an interest in nature and doesn't mind a very easy walk thru the woods to visit this place. I wasn't disappointed. I went with my family. They all enjoyed the experience. While we were there there were 2 trainers in the cages (big cages) working with the raptors. It was so cool to watch!
This was a wonderful place to visit. The Carolina Raptor Center receives injured birds of prey from all over the U.S. They rehabilitate and release raptors. Those poor creatures that cannot be release due to extensive injury, live out their lives in peace & tranquility as ambassadors and "educators". They have a wonderful exhibit and you can see how well taken care of these birds are. A job well done by The Carolina Raptor Center. Great place to visit and worthy of your sponsorship!
Bring sturdy walking shoes, prepare for inclement weather and be enchanted by the specimens which abound at the Carolina Raptor Center. The care and concern which the staff obviously feels and displays for the unfortunate denizens of the Center will give you a new insight into the place that Raptors hold in our environment. Owls, Bald Eagles, other odd birds are displayed in wonderfully constructed holding pens so the public can view and gain knowledge of these interesting creatures. Great for kids, good for adults. Watch where you're walking because the paths are as natural as possible and therefore somewhat uneven and wandering. The fee goes towards the feeding and housing and rehabilitation of the Raptors so they can be released back into the wild as early as possible. Very interesting place to visit... highly recommended.
Must do especially with kids. Great walk in the woods and good write ups on the birds to learn more about them.
