“Weekend Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

My husband and I have always looked at the mountains as a mean to escape from our busy lives. We have stayed in hotels, cabins, and other B&Bs. This was so much more than we could have ever asked for. We received a text the night before our stay from the owners, Callie and Dave. Callie said that they would be at a local restaurant for a concert and we were more than welcome to join them. If not, we were welcome to make ourselves at home upon our arrival. We arrived at night but they had all of the lights on in our suite and outside. We walked in to the lower level, the River Rocks Suite, and immediately thought we had walked in to the owners quarters. It was so spacious and homey! We had brought our two pups and knew that we did not have to worry about having enough room for all of us. With our own balcony, patio swing, entrance, kitchenette and seating area, we had no reason to leave our level if we didn't feel like it. Due to the hospitality of the owners and friendliness of the other guests, that was far from what we did on our weekend get-away. From check in night we had already felt like we were part of there family. We spent the weekend enjoying the beautiful views from the common area porch after eating a fantastic breakfast, walking along the stream inside the gated community, visiting downtown Marshall, and enjoying the company of our new friends. I can truly say we have found our ONLY mountain vacation spot for as long as Callie and Dave (and of course their pup Midge) will have us.

Room Tip: The River Rocks Suite (lower level) was great for traveling with dogs. However, both levels were ro...

My husband and I stayed for two nights. We wanted a restful getaway not too far from home and that is exactly what we found here. We were a short scenic car ride from things we wanted to do such as visit downtown Marshall, Mars Hill and Hot Springs. And it was so nice to return to our peaceful retreat in the evenings. We ate the pot pies (awesome!) Callie provides for a small fee one evening and the next night we had a picnic in our suite. We stayed in the upper Tree Tops suite and we had no issues with privacy. However, the lower level offers more privacy if that is your thing. All the common area is shared. We enjoyed the fireplace on the deck both evenings! Callie and Dave could not have been more gracious hosts. They even welcomed our four legged babies who promptly made themselves right at home. I hope the resident doggie Midge didn't mind them too much! Did not use the hot tub so can't comment on that. The continental breakfast had many wonderful choices! The views from the deck are amazing! We would stay here again and would recommend to friends and family.

When we stumbled across this listing while we were planning our Valentine's Getaway, we felt like we'd found something great.

But once we got there, we were completely blown away by the beauty of the scenery and of the home as well.

Callie and Dave were the perfect hosts! They were caring enough to provide breakfast and give us advice as to which trails had the best views, as well as which areas had the most potential for exploring. Not to mention, they stayed in contact with us the entire time before arriving, making us feel welcomed.

We'd highly recommend staying in the downstairs, as you have some privacy, but still feel connected.

All this is available for an affordable price, making this the ideal weekend getaway.

Plus, there is a hot tub with an incredible view of the mountains and the stars.

My wife and I took our anniversary trip to Hot Springs, as we were newlyweds and couldn't afford to spend a lot of money on our trip. We found RiverDance through a friend's suggestion (they had stayed there before) and it was wonderful! Callie and Dave were responsive to emails and phone calls before we got there, and once we arrived were exceptional hosts. It was clear their goal was to make us feel comfortable, and we did! I even have special dietary restrictions and Callie made sure I had what I needed for breakfast. The hot tub was wonderful, and the view from our room was breathtaking and wild.

We made our reservation on the spur of the moment, the day before our trip. Arrived just after a snow and ice storm to be coxed up the mountain by Callie via cell phone as to how to negotiate the roads. Greeted by Callie and Midge, we were helped with our bags and treated to the view of the mountains and river below like none other we have seen. The accommodations with 2 bed rooms, lovely bathroom and sitting room was cozy and warm with all the amenities of coffee, fridge and microwave and the warmth of home. RiverDance is a beautiful example of timber frame construction finished with the special touches of Dave a Callie. We stood on the deck to soak in the incredible views where we later shared wine and watched the sunset against the mountains in the distance. When all was dark, a glow over the mountains preceded the rise of a full moon reflecting on the running river 300 feet below. The moonlight rippled on the water, hence the name "RiverDance" we are sure. Beautiful. A sensory experience complete with sound of the running stream below us. Our trip was a spur of the moment spontaneous decision which is now etched as a memory and a visual of a place we are sure to return in the summer with a longer stay. A romantic and beautiful place to share on Valentines.

Room Tip: You will love the top level with views spectacular. Rooms are spacious and nicely furnished with you...

Callie and Dave were so welcoming to us! We felt at ease and well taken care of when we were there. We loved the scenic views from any where in the house and on the balconies. It was so peaceful and refreshing to stay at Riverdance, it definitely has a retreat feel to it. Callie and Dave were also great about giving advice about what to see nature-wise around Hot Springs. Definitely ask them to give you some direction! We were there in October and the colors and weather were amazing!! We want to return to RiverDance one day soon, and will definitely recommend it to our friends.
