“Relaxing mountain getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2011

My fiance and I stayed at RiverDance from December 2nd to the 4th for a weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday. The surrounding landscape was beautiful and relaxing. Not only were the mountain views amazing, but the accommodations were above and beyond our expectations. When we arrived, Callie had some delicious snacks waiting for us. When we got to the downstairs suite, there were even some treats for our dog! We were so thrilled to be able to take him along with us for the weekend at no extra cost, unlike a lot of other places. The cost to rent the room per night is an amazing deal in comparison to the amount of space and available amenities. Breakfast was delicious, and it incorporated a lot of local influences. My fiance and I took advantage of shopping in downtown Marshall and even stopped at Sandy Bottom Trail Rides for some horseback riding. Both were not that far away from RiverDance. On our last day, we took some good advice from Callie and Dave and did some hiking with our dog along Laurel Creek to the French Broad River. It was a beautiful day for a hike, and we were lucky enough to stumble upon a buck in the woods. RiverDance is definitely a place to recommend to those who love the peace and quiet the mountains have to offer.

RiverDance was a wonderful place to stay while visiting our son over a long Thanksgiving weekend. Callie and Dave went above and beyond what we normally expect from a Bed and Breakfast experience. Their home is beautiful and the views from the outside deck and from the large windows inside are amazing. Callie always made sure we had everything we needed: soda, bottles of water, snacks, and even a card table and chairs for our family to play games. We stayed in the lower level of the house and had plenty of room to share the space with our son and his wife in the evenings. While staying at RiverDance we explored the little towns of Marshall and Hot Springs, as well as Asheville. One of our favorite "day trips" was driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway and marveling at the gorgeous views. Since our son lives close to RiverDance, we look forward to staying there again and visiting with Callie, Dave, and Midge!

Room Tip: The lower level area has its own private entrance.

We were fortunate to experience the peak of the Fall color in the mountains of NC this year. The best part was staying in the downstairs area which was so comfortable and warm. Dave, Callie and Midge were the perfect hosts and we enjoyed the morning time together. We met other guests who also came from our hometown which spurred good memories of the past. The location was great for day trips to Gatlinburg, Asheville, and hiking to see some of the beautiful waterfalls in the area. Our dog, Zoe, was welcomed also and made traveling so much easier. Callie was so helpful with information and helped getting tickets for us to the Biltmore. The highlight was going into Marshall with our hosts for a "bluegrass" musicians night which was amazing and entertaining.Definitely planning another visit here soon.

We were so impressed by the look of Riverdance on the website and in fact it was every bit as beautiful in real life. Maybe more so!
We stayed in Treetops - the 'upstairs' suite of rooms, which suited us really well and was a perfect place to crash after a long day exploring the area.
We stayed here at the very end of a 4 week tour around the south of the USA and it was a great way to end a super holiday.
We visited Asheville (took a tram tour), drove south to enjoy the Autumn scenery, drove north to do the same - and visited the local towns of Hot Springs and Marshall, including an evening visit to Zuma's coffee shop in Marshall where each Thursday evening there's a jam session with local musicians. That was wonderful!!
But we could easily have spent our 5 days just hanging around at Riverdance enjoying the view, sitting in the hot tub, cooking for ourselves and chatting to Dave, Callie (and Midge).
We probably won't visit this part of the world again but we have lots of very precious memories of Riverdance.

If you want a place where you can get away, RiverDance is it. Nestled in the hills just an hour west of Asheville, NC it is the most relaxing place my wife and I ever stayed. The view off the deck was amazing we spent a quiet afternoon relaxing, reading, and sipping wine we had bought in Tennessee on the way in. When we finally turned in for the night, the bed was very comfortable and after two nights in hotels I slept like a charm. Had we been there more than one night, we would have taken advantage of the hot tub and outdoor fireplace and seating area. The Appalachian Trail is close at hand as well as rafting and other outdoor activities. I especially liked the timber framing visible in the main common area. The next time we go to that area of the country we will definitely book a few nights at RiverDance.

There are lots of reason to stay at this B & B, but the view has to be the best one of all! The pics just don't do it justice. The owners couldn't have been more accommodating...wonderful host.We stayed in the downstairs room which was a little more private with a deck. But both rooms have the ability to use most areas in the house. Only minutes from the Hot Springs.Make this your next get-a-way. You'll be happy you did!
